Jon and Kate ... plus divorce papers

Monday night's special one-hour episode of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" would have been shocking if the couple had announced they were ending the top-rated TLC cable show to work on their marriage.

I thought this was the saddest thing I had ever seen. I was hoping they would end the show and work on their marriage instead but
it looks like Jon is the one who has given up completely. I feel so sad for this family and my heart goes out to them but I truly believe they could have worked on the marriage if the show had never started. Kate says it would have played out this way whether or not the world was watching. I do not believe that, I think this show brought out more demons then necessary. I understand Kate wants to provide for her family and that the whole basis of the show is "all for the kids" but she seems to be a little money hungry herself. She wants to be in control and now hates the fact that she "has to do this alone". She should have thought about that a while back when she was treating her husband like gum at the bottom of her shoe. I have seen her attitute and treatment towards Jon become worse and worse as the show went on and not only with him but with others as well. I think now she regrets her actions but it is too late.

I do wish them the best and for the children's sake hope they can make this show work and get along. I also hope they can find the peace and happiness they are searching for.

I feel very strongly that anyone can get married and have a loving family however when you have the media on you 24/7 that seems to put a strain on anyone's marriage and I am not saying they should never have done the show but when you have to go to the store or go outside and get the mail and the popperazi takes photos of you and asking why did you do that, well that is when it becomes ruthless of what the popperazi do and I think that they should be left alone and let them be in peace. who should we really be praying for at this time, I have to say our troops in iraq and subsequently we should also pray for the kids in this situation, they are the ones who suffer.

I have watched the show from the beginning and the fact that they are divorcing is no suprise. Kate puts all the blame on Jon, but if it was me talking to my husband the way that she talks to Jon, my husband would have left me a long time ago. It takes two to make a marrigae work and it also takes two to allow a marriage to fall apart. Kate needs to look inside herself and realize the she is not blameless in this and take responsibly for her actions as well.

I hope the two can find happiness. Isn't that what everyone wants? This is a very sad ending to a family that loved one another which is what they've said numerous times over the years. I wonder if they regret the decision to bring the cameras into their home. It couldn't have helped. I personally have enjoyed watching the little kids grow up and interact with one another. Whatever happens I hope the children will be okay.

I don't care if they get a divorce; they are idiots and couldn't care less about their personal life. I'm sick of hearing about them in every news outlet. I hope they disappear and fade into oblivion.

I agree Sherry. Once I was watching one of their in the chair interviews and saw Kate whack Jon on the back of his head. You could actually hear the sound of the smack. That's when I knew it was not going to last, who treats their significant other that way??? I would have run from her too.

wah wah wah its the cameras fault, we dont have any privacy, wah wah wah. not buying it for a second. funny how she didnt have a problem with the cameras 24/7 as long as she was seeing money from it but once the cash wasnt going to her it became a problem. you wanna live in the public spotlight? well guess what, you dont get pick and choose when its on and off. on top of all that she treated her husband likd garbage on a regular basis. which is just unacceptable. anyone who didnt see this coming must have been blind. i barely even seen this show but from the clips i have seen you could see it coming just by the way he would look at her when she would berate him during the little couch interviews.

I got turned off when they moved into the new house and I saw Kate wave her hand and go "mine - its all mine". I don't care about that kind of crassness that I see in folks who grow up poor and suddenly have a little money. I also thought it was the begining of the end when Jon quit his job to stay home. With that much closeness - no one grows. While this didn't start out as a money making machine for the family it quickly turned into that. They should have ended the show a long time ago. I got tired of seeing Jon be a typical immature male and Kate a really sarcastic female who thought her &*(*(& didn't stink. The ones I feel sorry for are the kids. I suspect that is why Mady would routinely act out and why the little kids always hit each other. They were reflecting the stress in that family.

Kate is a disgusting pig. If Jon were a big enough man, he would have left her LONG ago. I hope children's services up there is keeping an eye on things. Kate has demonstrated that she has an abusive nature and now that Jon is gone, she WILL turn on the children.
They were cute as babies, but the last episode I watched, the acted like brats--hitting each other ect. Wait until the money runs out and these kids are 15 years old.

Hopefully TLC is packing up their gear and moving on..........

The whole thing is sad. I feel for the kids. The thing that I think is ironic is how ticked Jon and Kate both are at the papparazzi. I mean, c'mon you invite the world into your home, you take a paycheck for it, and then you draw the line? When you open your doors and your children's life for cash, you have to take exactly what you get in return.

Everyone keeps saying that they think the show did this. I think the show DELAYED it. Think about it, without the show, they would have had SERIOUS money problems trying to raise 8 kids. Because of the show, they didn't really have to worry about that too much. It brought in some other issues, but the number one reason for couples splitting is money trouble. Number one.

Jon and Kate would have been splitsville years ago without the show.

Fame has changed her, and not in a good way. After years of being belittled on national TV, Jon had enough. I can't believe he lasted as long as he did.

Don't feel bad for Kate, she's not doing anything "alone"; her staff will be raising the kids while she jets off in her bizarro hairdo hocking her schmaltzy books. She's just upset that she can't yell at him anymore.

Jon you are such a baby! The show should have been named Jon and Kate plus nine. Everone trashes her but he is the one that has never communicated throughout the show until she acted out. Jon love the ear rings!! Not. Talk about a mid life crisis at it finest. Hope you lose all your hair. Kate get a new hair doo to and a new man. You can do much better!! Even with all your issues and comming from a trailer park. You should be proud of what you have achieved for your kids. I think you should give up the show for your Kids and get on with your life too.
