Here we go! We have another take over of one of our establishments selling out to outsiders who have NO CLUE what Damascus is all about. We want to turn our backs on locals and cater again to the tree hugging, bike riding tourist that grace our presence a few months out of the year. Let's just seehow the new "Whistlepig Hillbilly Bistro" works out. Even the name is offensive! All I can say is ...take your hummus and pray that It will keep you fed this winter!

Sooverdamascus, Do you shop at any of the local businesses. How many do you think are owned and operated by born and bred Damascusonians? If not for them outsiders we would not have enough people with the balls and brains to open and operate businesses in town.

Fact is, it would be impossible to have a business in this town that would survive without the tourist's money.

Please tell us Willie what other business in town rely on the tourist other than the bike haulers? The only other business would be maybe the restaurants. I can think of 10 businesses that are run by born Damascusonians.

Whatever you wannna say abouts Dot's, at least she stood her ground and didn't give in to the "tourist". Dot's was Dot's n matter what! Like it or not, she never catered to the .....whatever. She didn't change her menu just to satisfy the tourist. "I am what I am!" take it or go somewhere else!!! I admire her for that!

Dot caters to everyone that walks through the door. Locals, tourists, bicyclists, motorcyclists and AT hikers. Fatties didn't change the menu to "satisfy the tourist". they added and subtracted here and there and have a well-rounded menu. WTF is it you're looking for?

Dots is nasty. If she would clean up just a bit and get her drunk ass boyfriend Pot out of there spitting in people faces when he talks it might be a place more people would go.

dot's is great!

damascus is great...

i'm not from here, but glad to be here...there are plenty of communities everywhere that wish they could attract outside folks and their money...if this town didn't have hikers/bikers/motorcyclists/an tique hunting folks/random wanderers and whomever else, damascus would be hurting in a lot of ways...before we start judging someone else's honest attempt to bring business to the community, let's give'em a chance...good folks no matter where they are from, should always be welcomed!

AMEN!! I'm not from here either, but love the town and all the folks who are smart enough to have businesses, regardless of where they are from. By the way, Abingdon is only a short 15 miles away. AND, have ya'll tried the Hummus??? It is good food for the soul!(But you must have a soul to appreciate it)

ALL of the business in town rely on tourists, if not for the tourists, nothing would survive here. Remember before the tourists came to town?? Boarded up buildings up and down Laurel Ave. Is that what you want again?
