Just wanted to get some opinions on Damascus Rescue. I heard they were hiring and I am just about to finish my EMT.

Thanks

Gosh Agree, I completely agree with the dress code, I would hate to be pulled from a burning house then have to deal with someone trying to save me that wasn't wearing a nice looking polo shirt. What an idiot, if someones saving my ass I sure don't care what they are wearing.

Agree, you need to own up and say who you are. Come to the next meeting. Oct. 4th. and stand up and run your suck (a Marine term). It's obvious you've already been at a few. Look Sharon, Bill and me in the eye and say Carol is "evil". She's a damn good lady. Firm but fair. I'm a proud member of DVRS. Thank God They exist. You, Agree, may go FY. It's all about HELPING folks.

That is funny David. You jump on the defensive at my dress code comment. I did not even have to call your name or mention the beard yet you took enough offense.

Is telling a member of the community to go fuck themselves very becoming of a member? Is it allowed in the SOP?

Nothing I stated is a lie. Nothing.

I realize that the average citizen is more than glad to have a trained member come to their assistance no matter how they are dressed. The point of the matter is, the member SHOULD have enough pride in their department and enough esteem in their self to look better rather than look like a slob. If you profess to have been in the Marines, David, you have no excuse for the lack of dress etiquette.

What does a beard matter when someone is in the back of a meat wagon hoping that they will not die? Being a pro is over rated and politics are poilitics, in fact we live in a political society. As far as appearence comes to these volunteers have lives when they are on call, they may be cutting the grass, hanging out with their grandkids, or riding up and down the Creeper and then they get the call and they jump right in.....it's a shame that we all have standards that we think everyone else needs to live by when we cannot even meet our own expectations for ourselves and coming on a public forum and airing your opinions without stating your real name is pure unproffesional....in my opinion...

I for one am glad to have the sqaud available for help. These individuals donate their time to serving the public. It takes a low SOB to get on topix and bash its members. It sounds to me like jealousy toward the squad and its members. To anyone who has a problem with the sqaud you1328 should confront the members face to face or go to hell! Just my opinion!

Agree, you are so good at listing names, why hide behind one that you used from another poster that posts positive, good remarks. You sound like a snake in the grass, one that either didn't make the squad or one removed. You need to move on, with your attitude I hope your life doesn't depend someday on whether the EMS is dressed to perfection or one that has another life, runs and jumps in the EMS truck when they have been at a ballgame with their kids or in the backyard mowing when their beeper goes off and its a matter of minutes to save a life==wait, they stop-think-run to their house, get dressed, brush their hair and look in the mirror(wow, I look good, now lets go save a life) You need an attitude adjustment--I don't care if they show up in their PJ's and I've had a heart attack---SAVE MY LIFE and I'll be forever grateful. Go ask someone that was rescued sometime and see if they can remember their rescuers attire---I think not---and yes there are still volunteers that give their time and make what they believe in a part of their life. I say thank you to the people you have downed. They at least care...

Nowhere in my above post did I address the dress code issue or anything about a beard so i've taken no offense. However what you have stated is chickenshit BS and you can once again feel free to go FY sweetie. You're obviously not a good member of this community. Have a pleasant day :)

I agree that dress codes should never be an issue in these situations. Should all fire dept. members put on their dress uniforms before they answer a fire call?

Adressing the comment made earlier about medicare/medicaide issue....this is like any other insurance that everyone has. Once insurance has been billed you are responsible for the remaining bill. Sad but necessary because donations are a thing of the past. In order to keep Rescue Squads up and running to serve the community this is necessary.

As far as this citizen having their ducks in a row, this would be incorrect...Carol and Sharon DO NOT HAVE A VOTE!!! Nick and the other party involved in that accident were not sued!!!

We wish we had the luxury of time to change into a nice professional uniform, but in the interest of saving lives and the oath we have taken we feel that it is more important getting to the patient in a timely manner rather than concerning ourselves with a personal appearance. We consider all calls an EMERGENCY!

These members paid or not give up their time at work, with family, with friends and special occasions and holidays just to answer calls and serve their community.

As far as "THE CURSE" is concerned we appreciate someone thinking that DVRS has that type of power but we leave that in the hands of GOD!

The DVRS encourages new members who are qualified and want to be there for the right reasons. This is a silent commitment to help save lives not for the sake of glory and public recogition.

This is to "Agree". I have taken offense to everything you have wrote on here about the dvrs. These people came to my rescue when i had a heart attack. These people came in the middle of the night to save my life. Had it not been for them i would not be here now. I have seen my son married, my daughter have our first grandchild, and to be able to celebrate our 50th anniversary with my wonderful husband. So i leave you with this last comment: YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW!!!

I told you it was Charlie Holiday. It never fails when you call some one out by name they stop posting.
