This looks like more of a political board, but can I ask tourist questions or can you suggest another board? Such things as restaurant, transportation and attraction questions?

Heck yes. The political stuff and the nurtz stuff and the religion stuff will roar in because so many are sooooo disturbed but there are quite a few non-nurtz out there who are willing to jump in and offer experienced advice. Have fun on your trip. A truly beautiful city.

I like the hostel out at fort mason. Cheap and near everything at the fishermans wharf and the union street and the palace of fine arts and the marina and North Beach.

What Italian restaurants in North Beach and seafood restaurants at Fisherman's Warf would you recommend? Also best restaurants in Union Square area (staying at Donatello on Post Street). Thanks.

Visitors are shocked in summer to find it cold and foggy most mornings and at night. Offen all day long. Dress warm and in layers.

Drive across the bay bridge to Oakland. Go to Mexicali Rose at 7th & Clay. Opens for lunch and stays open late for dinner. But don't act like a tourist; you'll get robbed or worse.

Don't bring any fishing gear. The bay is polluted and you can't cast from the golden gate.

The walk from the ball park all the way to giardelli square is outstanding.

Make reservations in advanced for the Alcatraz walking tour.

Go see Beach Blanket Bab...

Now you must return the favor: Where is the best BBQ in Mableton GA??????

Don't forget Sausalito. Neat to walk across the bridge, then go down the hill on bikes to Sausalito Village. The Hotel, or Ondine for lunch and then nthe Ferry back to SF. A great time. Have a beaut!!!

Went to this beautiful city on vacation last summer. We are from Chicago. I love it there! We went to Chinatown, Fishermans Wharf, the Aquarium, walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, ate noodles in Japan Town, went to the Farmers market (awesome!!!) and took a whale your. We couldn't get tickets to Alcatraz but we will next time!!!! Have fun- we sure did!

Many of the people of San Francisco have liberal policy's dealing with the homeless and malcontents of society, leading to an issue of what is preferred, tourism or their percieved humanity.....This mean's you might get your pocket picked or hustled for change at the Wharf....by those poor, downtrodden souls.......you know, one of those vacation moments, you'll treasure for years....lol....
