Demonstrators gather outside of City Hall in San Francisco for a...

City lawmakers are scheduled to vote Tuesday on an ordinance that would prohibit nudity in most public places, a blanket ban that represents an escalation of a two-year tiff between a devoted group of men who strut their stuff through the city's famously gay Castro District and the supervisor who represents the area.

Why do all male mammals have nipples?
Because the "default" setting for mammals is female, later on inutero physical gender is determined by genitics AND hormone wash, casuing the gonads to become eather testies or overies and casing a penis to develop or that part to remain a clitoris

I figured as much but by their previous arguments they prove they know ZERO science, so I used it as a teaching moment, let them find out where in their book it says what science knows and has proved , oh yeah I forgot IT DOESNT. lol

Where did you get the idea that most gay men walk around nude in public, or even want to?
I've never met ANY who do.
Then you've never been to a circuit party or a leather bar.

I don't 'think most gay men walk around nude in public. I think that only people who are defending the practice are gay men.

Why do you regard the human body as filthy? That's the REAL mystery.
There are few diseases that dogs and cats have that can pass to a human as bacteria and viruses are most often host specific. But any germ that a human can have can pass to another human. The human body is indeed quite ridden with germs, which in turn make it pretty filthy. I certainly wouldn't want to sit where some nude person of unknown health status had been sitting. That's really disgusting.

While that is the standard reason that many scientists and physicians usually state, I've always thought that the reason human males have nipples was to stimulate sexual activity.(Like when you're totally engrossed in a game where the 49ers are playing the Steelers and the ball is on the one yard live with 3 seconds left in the game, and with the Steelers leading by 2, and suddenly your boyfriend starts gently sucking on your nipples, and BAM ! That tv is off !:))

Speak for yourself -- I never said I regard the human body as filthy. I gladly shake hands with anyone. If I have petted an animal I like to wash my hands as soon as possible precisely for the reason you mentioned. But answer me this: why do most people prefer to wear underpants under their clothes? Enough said.

And I made a comment, not to pick a fight or because I necessarily support the proposed legislation (which I do not), but to offer an insight into why SOME gay people may favor some form of legislation to preserve public decency. It is for the same reason that many people oppose cigarette smoking -- not because they are against individual freedom to decide what they may do with their own body, but because they are sick and tired of smoke in confined spaces and litter in the form of cigarette butts strewn on our sidewalks and beaches. If people cannot be considerate in public they jeopardise their own individual freedoms.

It's one thing to observe that female is closer to the default state of mammalian animals, it's another entirely to suggest that they all start as female.

It is true that the "Y" chromosome is actually a defective "X".

The point is, humans are mammalian animals.

Well actually, no. But then, I don't remember EVER watching elephants "doing it". But you know the male of the animal world will always find a way, if it feels good.

You are far more likely to get sick from a handshake. Hands are germy. The AMA recommends frequent hand washing to prevent illness. Petting an animal is unlikely to make you sick. The zoonotic diseases you can get are not living in the fur with the exception of strep, staph, and ringworm, all of which cause visible symptoms. All of the rest are spread through urine and fecal matter or through penetration into the blood stream through bites or saliva coming into contact with an open wound. Germs grow in the intestines of animals just like they do in humans. So, I saw stay away from the anus of dogs, cats, and humans and places where that part of the body may have touched if you truly want to prevent disease. Reason enough to stop nude people from planting their bare butts and surfaces that other people have to use.9

Very easily. With one person with whom I have been in a committed, monogamous relationship for decades. It is a closed system. I don't worry about germs in the slightest.
