A lot of the rn's are going to be first.
They need to give the recent hired nurses a drug test that would probably cut out a lot.

Or a better idea. Start accepting the 3 largest insurance companies in america, and get rid of the "Alliant insurance" monopoly they have going with the hamilton medical group.
Hamilton medical center even hired the FORMER CEO OF ALLIANT HEALTH CARE. The healthcare around here is a joke, and apparently, our politicians are in somebody's back pocket.
I think they are trying to cut business and use this to cut staff to make it a more attractive as a "for sale business". Since they bought it for a song, 55mil and the looming Nat'l Health Ins issues, Jack Turner and Lamar Lyle are looking to make it an attractive purchase. They are unloading long service salaries not positions. The positions will remain, but occupied by lesser paid understudies.

They have shut down the stroke unit and the census on the rest of the floors is usually low. This causes most of the staff to work an average of 2 days a week and they are using their vacation hours to make up the difference. Many nurses have already quit and most others are looking for jobs. Hamilton is a great hospital and a great place to work, but the changes are scary and I just hope some of the great staff that they have sticks around.

Ms Keys makes the staff accountable for patient care excellence and always has. Look at yourself. It sounds like you did not meet that accountabilty. Step up to the plate...you are part of what makes nursing a sucess.
Jan Keys should have been fired. She is totally unethical.

Both of you are misinformed or just highly opinionated on very little facts. Alliant is not a monopoly insurance carrier at the hospital. And there is not going to be a Buy Out of the hospital! The rumor about LPN's being eliminated is untrue also because they are posting positions on the job line for LPN's. I am not saying that there isn't going to be LPN positions and RN positions eliminated but they are not cutting out LPN's and RN's. You can't run a hospital without them. They are the backbone of the hospital. Hamilton Medical Center will survive through this economic situation and will come out strong. I might be one of the people cut but I believe that when one door closes, another one opens. Just Believe in your abilities and be positive and GOD will take care of the rest. Everyone at the hospital is in my prayers.

they LPN position on the job line is for Royal Oaks, the assisted living that they run. They do not have LPN jobs posted within the hospital.I do think it would be stupid to eliminate all LPN's because they have been there forever and the new RN's they want to hire lack the experience. There is no difference in the job they do on the floor. They perform the same tasks as the RN's and most of the RN's there were trained buy the LPN's. I was trained by an LPN along with most of my coworkers.

there is also another LPN position posted on the job line besides Royal Oaks. I have the highest respect for LPN's! Most of them are just as qualified or more than the RN's. Most of the RN's just go through more schooling and don't use most of their education and get paid more for their degree. The LPN's seem to be more dedicated and qualified than some of the RN's that I have seen.

I recently had to have surgery, I chose to have at Gordon Hospital. The nurses at Hamilton are over worked, short staffed, and have no nurse assistance. If you can pay the TOP DOGS so much in salaries and other perks whay don't you look at cutting their pay and not cut out the people that really do the work. The RN,LPN,the nurse assistant, housekeeping, etc. It is not the top dogs that keep the hospital running it is the little dog.Trying to be like Memorial, Erlanger, Emery, and other magnut hospitals is what the CEO and other decision makers at HMC must think is much better than providing the best health care, must be more important than having a good hospital with enough staff to do there jobs.I applaude the little dogs for doing the best they can,Ihave been a patient at HMC but I will go to Gordon Hospital the care I got was execellent.

SO we can send 6.5 billion dollars to these rag head f**** in syria to keep their dumb ass's warm but we can't help the school system and the hospitals to get real teachers and doctors in dalton? Hum that's weird. 85 percent of the teachers in the area are walking around with a damn cell phone up their ass and the doctors at the hospital in dalton, and murray must have been selected from the crack allies of atlanta, ga. I know of people going into the hospital for the flu and dying. wtf gives? a minimum of 1k just to write your name on the admit list is shitty.
