Jail addition work to start

Construction on a 120-bed addition to the Murray County Jail is expected to begin later this month, sole commissioner Jim Welch said Tuesday. via Dalton Daily Citizen

I believe the addition is a good thing, but I would build an addition that could hold 300 or more inmates. It would be cheaper to perform all of the construction at one time and Murray County could house many more inmates for other county's or they could just keep that portion of the jail closed until it is needed (and it will be needed in the future). Chatsworth and Eton have grown more in the past 5-10 years than any time that I can remember and I believe that it will continue, we should prepare for the growth now.

One thing we can do the help the drug epidemic is to vote for Ken Smith in the Primary and General Elections. Ken won't just wink at the problem someone else has done for twenty years.

We need to help get folks involved in Ken's campaign... It's going to take a lot of man power to help get Ken's message to every register voter in Murray County. I saw a form on www.kensmithcampaign.com where people can sign up to volunteer.

Have you not heard our Sheriff we dont have a Drug problem in Murray County. We just need a new jail addition for some other reason

Ok I think that statment means that the Murray County Sheriff is calling Murrau Citizens Against Meth all Liars. Yes we need a Jail addition why because increased crime and the Drug Problem

I think what he is saying is that making meth is not the problem it was. Bringing it in from Mexico is the problem. I would like to see where he said drugs/meth is not a problem here. I have never heard that.

The only action on his part has been to lie to the voters every 4 years and their too stupid to realize it. I have to agree I know they are more people out in Murray County Like this I hope we can get them out to Vote.

I heard the one armed bandit on the scanner the other night, no doubt shooting for another election year drug bust. I know that Benny Davenport who is running for sheriff has a brother in prison on drug charges. His family has been affected by our drug problem like a lot of other families. I believe that he WILL do what he says and get us a drug unit or at least allow the deputies to work drugs, something Ensley has never done and will never do. How many more years does Ensley need before idiots realize that he ain't gonna do shit! Maybe when these do-nothing peoples kids and grandkids are sucking up the meth they will piss and moan about it.
