The GSP is short because they are one of the few groups of LE in Ga. that actually have a very high standard in not only getting the job but keeping it. Only rarely do you see a GSP in the news for wrongdoing. Unlike the local deputy doggs and loony sheriffs running around.<quoted text>There is a cop shortage in Georgia. Look up the numbers for GSP. They are begging for help and work shorthanded at most of their POSTS around the state. There will always be a shortage because of the pay, those that aren't in it for the right reasons and get let go of, and those that get tired of the public not appreciating what they do.

I agree. There are some great cops. But it seems the LE career field is filled with more crazies than the Post Office. Not a single day goes by in Ga. that there is not a news story on some out of control cop. Just google that nut sheriff in Clayton county for starters. |
|
You folks from Chatsworth who think cops are the "good guys" need look no further than Towns and Union County to see that the real crooks are the ones with the badges.
The only time I was ever robbed, it was by Deputies. |

Should it matter if he was on a motocycle or a car or a truck?? The fact is that if the law didnt give chase, with the blue lights and siren's going. You now have somebody going at a high rate of speed on a bike with absolutly no warning, that something is approaching and that might have saved him from hitting a family and killing them. Because I doubt that he would of slowed down if they had stopped chasing him.
|
|
What came first? The chicken or the egg? Like the folks that got killed in Dalton recently they wern't speeding untill the Cops chased them. Everybody involved in a chase is stupid. The criminal and the Cops and who pays for their stupidity? My family, your family or someone else just minding their own business gong about their daily life. |

A cop did not cause the accident. It was a campground attendant pretending to be a cop.

If anyone posting on this site knows this 'felon', then they know he is incapable of causing intentional harm to someone. The deceased should not have been running from the law, but the chase could have been handled differently - radio ahead to other law enforcement personnel. I am sorry that the man is died in the accident but I am an avid rider of motorcycles, and I am a firm believer that just because a bike will go fast, if you choose to do so then you also choose whatever consequences may come of that choice. Think about it.

I agree. I'm sorry for the death also. The situation should have been handled differently. But if the motorcyclist hadn't of wrecked, he probally would be bragging about outrunning the law today. It's sad, but no doubt true. |

The United States Supreme Court recently ruled, EIGHT to ONE (8-1) that if you run, you deserve what you get, and that includes death.
|
Well, geeezzz, there ya go! That makes it right by an 8-1 vote. I feel much better. |
|
I think we should add "people" to that. |

Not necessarily right. just the law. |
I agree with you on that. |

And you would be wrong. I wish some people learned to read and not just type a bunch of bs. |

A nasty remark. The case originated out of Coweta County and the Court did rule. Now if you wish to be an a**hole, fine. Just state what the Court did say vis a vis that chase in which the chasee became paralyzed. The cops were immunized. A**hole |

GSP is a fine organization but they too have their miscreants. The background requirements to be a cop in GA (bartow co.) are background inv, polygraph, drug test. you can be a lawyer with less, a doctor with less, a schoolteacher with less, and a preacher with less. A**hole. |
|
GAguy is correct, MSO4, Maybe you need to do alittle research. Law Enforcement initiates traffic stops with their blue lights, and sirens when required. State Law says pull to the right and StOp! Not speed up and risk lives. So the offender presents the danger when the speeds increase, Not the Law Enforcement. Personally I think Fleeing to elude Law Enforcement should be a felony in "all" cases. Of course it all gets down to common sense. No Law Enforcement wants to see "anyone" get hurt. We can pick apart cases all day and all night, forever. But when your in a position and you have to make split second decisions, It gets crazy and confusing sometimes.

thank you Felon but the A**hole MSO4 has no desire to deal with facts, just his own disgusting view of the world. the USSC case I quoted is fairly recent and well beyond the civics lesson he had in the 8th grade

And some people don't know what they are talking about |
