Mother Seeks Justice For 5-year-old's Murder

In Georgia, a 5-year-old child's father and step-mother are being held responsible for her death.

How outragious that people can harm little children at all ! Much less at the own hand of their parents. The story says that they were under DFCS radar? So what then? And why was the girl NOT with her mother? Where does she live?
How very sad for this little child!!
I hope they throw them UNDER the prison!!

There is alot to be said of this case, but for this child and other abused children, lets simply pray that justice be brought forth. It is terrible that in so many situations it is in fact a parent or relative that harms or even claims the life of a child, I understand that the Department of Children Services has a large case load, but how do these poor babies "slip through the cracks?" It's a disgrace that this is the world we live in.

I agree and DFCS needs better qualified professionals (actual b.a. degrees in Social Services and family behaviors) etc...
There in lies part of the problem! It is SO sad that there was no one there to protect that child! And at the hands of her own parents?
Where was her natural mother? Am I correct in thinking that the father had custody?
Yes, alot of unanswered questions indeed!

DFCS was aware of the abuse this child suffered in that place (you can't call it a home because a home has love and care). there is no excuse for her having had to stay in that situation. they should be accountable for letting that child down. just to keep them with family does not protect a child who's family has a record of abuse. this is so sad. DFCS should have enough people to keep up with their cases

I can believe that children die while under the so-called watchful eye of DFCS. Just recently I had a visit with a social worker at the Gwinnett DFCS office concerning documents they lost for the second time. When I discussed the situation with the social worker ( Mr. Givens), he informed me that he was "doing me a favor." It only take ONE social worker with a "I'm doing you a favor " attitude to cause a child lose its life while under DFCS so called watchful eye.

Yes I had brought my nephews and niece to my home I live in Alabama, at bath time I found bruises ands welts on the 5yr old He told me his father beat him with a belt, the 3yr old had bruises on his ribs and forehead.Which I found out the mother had threw him through a doorway and he hit the side of the bed, two people witnessed that. I took them to children sevices here where they took pictures and a statement I obtained a lawyer and got temporary custody. Georgia DFACs was notified after about a week they said they found no abuse. Alabama gave me temporary custody for 2 mons but since Georgia didn,t find any abuse Alabama made me return them based on the no abuse factor from DFACS.

you people have no idea how these type of tradegy's affect everyone involved, including the social workers. we do not live in the homes with our clients. we do not know their every move. with non-verbal children, we do not have one's story to go on but the parents. we are slammed for protecting children and bringing them into foster care, and slammed for trying to work with the family to keep them together. i think its time society stopped allowing the abuse to occur and raise the sub-par standards we have for children as well as the excuses we hold for abusive parents. and before the next time you blame the social worker, think about how many hundreds or thousands of lives they've saved, all on a measley $30,000 salary.

What comes to mind when the word DFACS comes up is "incompetent people pulling down salaries for absolutely nothing! You report abuse or neglect to them, they shuffle you out as fast as they can but not before letting you know that you will NEVER know if they take any action or not. You as the reporter are not privy to "confidential information". So in other words report all you want and if they do nothing you'll never know. Oh, their quick to praise themselves when a child is seriously injured or killed, but thats a little to late as far as I'm concerned. Society does need to stop the abuse because DFACS never will. You blow about the thousands of lives you save, prove it, oh, but thats all confidential isn't it? DFACS should be abolished, a total waste of money!

Well, why don't we just ask them how much money they want before they'll put a little effort into saving a childs life, dumbass! They know the pay scale when they take the job, or I would think a college educated nitwit would. The so called African American workers you speak of probably have White Bastards for supervisors that won't let them do their job. And yeah, I'm white you freak!
