The high cost of gas is contributing to the rise if food costs. We need to put a downward pressure on these prices by drilling for more of our own oil and builiding refineries while investing in alternatives. Yet the Democrats in Congress continue to block domestic oil production and expanison. We have the largest oil reserves on the planet. We need to use them while coming up with alternatives which may take decades. The problem will only get worse if we do not act.

I'd like to mention Byler's on Rt. 8 just west of the city of Dover, DE. It's worth the 1 1/2hr. drive for me to shop there on occasion.

That may be the funniest statement I've heard in a long time. I would love to see the source of that information...

For some reason the majority of people are blind to the fact that they can do something about this right now. The technology exists to use water in your car. It's been proven to work and improves MPG by as much as 75%. There's a website that shows how to build them: www.iBuyLessGas.com
This could end our love affair with foreign oil. BMW has even invented a water car. Google BMW Water Car and you will be amazed.

Let's not forget to mention Peterson's Grocery at the southern end of Lancaster county, PA. It's just 4 miles north of the Maryland state line. They sell smokes and PA lottery as well.

Necessity is the mother of invention. With continuing economic turmoil you will see new, unique ways to cope and forge ahead, and that includes ferreting out new places to shop. Right in our own neighborhood, small stores that have sat for years, unpatronized, are seeing their business pick up. There is always an upside to anything, including this economic mess we're in right now. People who used to spend evenings at the mall, instead are walking down to the corner snowball stand for a treat and ready for this - talking to their neighbors. Dogs are getting more walks. It's not all gloom.....

We just hate O'Malley. I'll travel to the moon and back just for a pack of cigs if I can keep that dollar increase out of the pocket of Martin O'Malley.

As if Ed Rendell is any better than O'Malley. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

We went up to Hanover yesterday to see a movie that wasn't playing near us. We live in Westminster and the drive to Hanover only takes about 20 minutes or so. The matinee prices were $3 per person and snack/soda prices were reasonable. Paid $15 for two to go to the movie and have a large popcorn and soda to share. Big bargain.

Since we were going we went clothes and shoe shopping and saved the 6% sales tax. The trick is to consolidate your trips to PA and then the drive does make sense. Now that I found a place to see a cheap movie I'll be driving up even more often.

People like you should stay out of PA. Sounds like the schools in Maryland are worse based on your comments.

FYI, there are discount movie theaters in both Frederick and Owings Mills that you might want to check out too.
