The defendant should of gotton a longer sentence, especially for leaving the crime scene. I hope that girl has this hanging over her head for the rest of her life. People who hurt children, whether accidental or not should be punished

THe true gravity of what she did will not hit her until she is a parent herself and has to let her child go out into the world on its own.....to play, go to school, visit the neighbors......where anything can happen. Then, if she is part of the human race she will feel absolute revulsion for herself! This poor innocent boy was just living his life in his own little world and she was the bad thing that happened to him.....wonder what she will teach her children about the "bad things" that can happen. For what she did, she should have gotten more time.....even if it was an accident, she made choices when whe got behind the wheel of that car.....did her drugs....talked on her phone....didn't pay close enought attention to what she was doing......driving a 3000 pound weapon!

11-23 months for taking a life, can we say a slap on the wrist,it should not be considered an accident when she left the scene thats like saying lets go out and kill someone oh no that was an accident just make sure you leave an then turn yourself in---ok just getting angry ---under the influence of an illegal substance ,wheres that charge,,talking on phone while driving isnt there a law for that to,so where are them charges, speeding ok so that ones negotiable,ok so she got 200 hours community service so what a little over 2 weeks (bet the parents have to work 40 hours a week and have to pay all expenses)why doesnt she have to work 200 hours of hard labor for cash but every penny goes to the family to help pay for the expenses they should not have to pay and never should she have a licence

I personally know megan and the family is very unaware of how she has taken this tragedy. She has a great heart and wishes she could make everything better. I wish everyone would stop thinking they know how she feels. They don't

And the true gravity of it all is that it was an accident! I wonder where the parents were. The poor victim was in the road, with cars on both sides, and darting back and forth. It was a tragedy that happened. But why does noone ask who was watching him. If it wasn't her, it would have been someone else. I think every driver and parent should realize that.

I am very sorry for the Saunder's loss of their six-year-old son. What I don't understand is:
(1) Why was a six-year-old child allowed to play on a very busy and dangerous street in Red Lion? What was he doing on Main Street when he lives two blocks away?(2) Where was the responsible adult watching him that day, whether it was his mother, father or adult babysitter? I have two boys, ages 5 and 7, and would absolutely NEVER allow them to play near a busy street....or ANY STREET for that matter. My children can only play in our yard and only if there is an adult present. My children's safety is my utmost concern. and (3) A friend who lives in the Red Lion neighborhood said Chase's older brother and friend were playing a game where they stand on the sidewalk, waving their arms to distract drivers going by. This is what they were doing that day when Chase darted between parked cars and ran across the road to join the older boys. Once again, where was the mother, father, or responsible babysitter when this was going on?
This is truly a tragic accident and my heart goes out to the family for failing to protect their little boy.

Excellent point shayla, Where were the parents? This girl is young, This is an unfortunate accident, the girl is responsible, she will pay for that and be reminded of that everyday. But the parents really should take some responsibility for there children.

I can not believe that this girl gets only 23 months in jail for killing a small girl. That is ridiculous!!!!!!!! What is this country coming to????? You get more time with possession of marijuana!!! Is this fair ???? For God's sake, she KILLED SOMEONE!!!!! This is just a slap on the face for this 21 year old. Plus she only received 23 months which means that she can remain in York and not go upstate. I think that the judicial system in this country needs to be revamped!!!!

It seems to me that the parents of this child should also have to "go upstate" if you feel this girl should. I am confident that she will live with this death until the day she dies, in some way shape or form but will the parents? Or will they forever blame others for their mistakes, expecting society to do their own parenting? It was an accident & everyone involved, including the outraged community, needs to forgive &/or be forgiven, they will all live with this for a very very long time.

i will never forget coming home that day from wk not knowing what happen and this man jumps out in front of my car from no where yelling slow down and i was going the speed limit. so of course i stopped, rolled down my window and ask if he would get from in front of my car, and he was yelling a boy was just killed here!! i was not sure what was going on, he then darted out from my car in to the other lane doing the same thing almost getting hit. it was a scary day for this person and i know for all that believe this girl should do more time, i want you to think about how she is going to live the rest of her life knowing that she killed a child, regardless of why. We can play the if games all we want, but putting her in jail for 1,2,3,4,10 more yars won't bring this child back. i think what would be helpful is if she would ask for forgivness,if she hasn't already, and the family of the child would be open in exceptin it and both would move forward in a more positive way. i think the young lady needs to show how sorry she is and wk with kids in the community and church.

john, i agree that the parents need to be more forgiving becuase the allowed thier young boy to play near a busy street. and you can't say, well I don't have a back yard. If that's the case you need to make your home a playground, not the sidewalk.

1.We all thought he was at a neighbors house as usual (in the ally)all the neighbors look out for eachother. if she wasn't going so fucking fast maybe he would have lived.
2.He was 6, you honestly think he knew what chicken was?no. He was doing what all the other immature kids were doing and he got the shitty end of the stick
3.the bitch deserves way more than she got, knowing she got a DUI after this incident.
4.you all are cruel and disrespectful. i can tell you this, my mom read all of your comments as did i. and let me tell you, that did not help our grieving process what so ever. get a life
