bother you? If you're affected by the high Red Lion taxes, fine, if not, move here. Then we can put inquire a 3rd auditor to look at the Red Lions' taxes' books.
I can't understand how more and more people move into the district and the taxes keep going up. If there is a budget and it is being met; more people move in, shouldn't the per capita decrease? This is freakin' OUTRAGEOUS!!! If an investigative auditor comes across this, PLEASE HELP. This may be the biggest discovery of corrupt taxes in the history of AMERICA; Finding our monies being misused! Darryl Stones |

I'm a new resident to the Red Lion School District. Can anyone direct me to who the local reps are? I'm willing to spearhead the committee to challenge the "assumably" disproportionate tax hikes for our school district.
Secondly, I do have kids and except the school tax responsibility. I think that households without school aged children should have to pay a great deal less than those families with children. EX: 50% to 25% if it is necessary to something. Come on community, please jump on board. If we do not unite, the taxes will increase more and more! email me. darrylstones@yahoo.com |

As a senior citizen, I do not have children in school. I do not drive. I never call the police. I've never had a fire at my home. I suck the MediCare System dry and complain constantly that I do not receive enough bang for my buck. When are they going to begin taking care of "ME FIRST"?
With the invasion of folks from south of the Mason Dixon line, moving here in hoardes, schools overcrowded, what do they expect, taxes to be lowered. Simple Economics 101. Later, I have an appointment at the Proctoligy Specialist. |

I have lived in the Red Lion School district for 20 years. My taxes have increased 4 times from what they were 20 years ago. Then I am told that my property isn't worth what we thought it was because of the houses that have sold around us. I see huge houses in my area and I don't see how they can afford the taxes on an income here in York county. Do businesses pay more then residential? They Should!!!!! I have one child in school and we need to buy special notebooks each year. Use the tax money!!!!! I don't see how surrounding districts keep their taxes low.
HELP!!!!!! |

If you think taxes are so low in other parts of the county try looking from a long point of view. I sold my home in York county some 3 years ago. My taxes in the 10 years I owned it went up 5 1/2 times what it started at when I bought it. The funny part is this is a cottage that is 800 square feet, single care detatched garage and was in need of so much basic repairs I just gave up after awhile. To bad the housing market is in a slump now (thank god I sold on a good hard upswing) cause I'm sure now if I owned a home in Red Lion I'd have a "For Sale" sign out front or at best I'd check the insured value and have a Midnight Liquidation.

I moved up from Harford County Md. Yes the houses are cheaper, way cheaper than Md, but the taxes up here are crazy. The issues up here is each township tries to copy the other. West chester by Delaware and Md. the taxes are $5000 in some places. Where in the hell is the money going? Somebody is getting paid. No teacher is worth 6 figures, I don't care what colledge you went to.

I think the school board members should all be canned. Maybe we need to buy another golf course or can someone figure what to squander tax money on next. This is the craziest school district I ever lived in and I am sick and tired of outrageous tax hikes. AN AUDIT IS LONG OVERDUE!

I am appalled by the increases year after year after year. They are getting carried away. It is enough!!! STOP

Are we more concerned about taxes or ensuring students get the skills necessary to be successful and not be a burden on our society later in life--which cost tax dollars as well.

It's this simple. Let's say it cost 10k to educate 1 child. A family moves up from maryland with 3 kids, they pay 3k in school taxes. Where do you think the other 27k dollars come from? Bingo! Everyone else, thus an increase in taxes. Taxes increase because the population increases. Please understand your facts. If you want to complain, complain to windsor township for allowing so many new houses. Like me first stated... economics 101. Oh and Darryl since you want other people to pay 50-75 percent less since if they don't have kids... you do realize that means your's will go up even more. Funny stuff.

I never thought about that. That's why i joined the crusade to understand. I'm a first time home buyer and i humble myself to your insight.
But the crux of my concern is, will there ever be a ceiling to the constant tax rates? If the economy is now falling;fell, how can an increase in taxes of 9.4% be justified and affordable? Can you say, "increase in more home foreclosures?"

We need more people in this forum to express their concerns. Please tell a neighbor.
Again, I challenge the Red Lion School district to justify it's books to satify the curiosity of it's constituents. All we can do here is speculate the reasons Pro and Con. Until the budget is disected by a 3rd party, we may never know the "truth".(Pending on which books they allow to go public). Their copy or "OUR" copy. On the other hand, I challenge myself and all other opinion givers to research other regions and their tax rates per capita. I think we'll find that Red Lion is not the only booming community. What are the other school districts doing to keep their tax rates down? |
