What kind-of punishment do you get from running from the police anyways?

My cousin did that years ago, hit a telephone pole and all he recevied was a supended license and had to pay for a new pole.

Sorry for everyones rude comments about my cousin John Reilly. Which none of you knew from Adam. He was a great kid who was changing his act up and recently out of rehab. They saved my cousin from the car before the cop.

RIP John Edward Reilly

Hopefully, Brandt will be okay. It's a shame that he's in the hospital for simply doing his job.
As for Reilly and the other guy, it was their decision to flee and lead cops on this chase, so I don't feel bad that they're both gone.
well your a scumbag and it doesnt matter if they were fleeing!! they didnt deserve to die. it was all the cops fault for chsing them anyway he wasnt even supposed to they were goin over 110mph and passing an accident the op was only supposed to write the plate number down and send a ticket or w/e so larn to watch wat you say about peoples friends!!

As one who engaged in high speed chases, I can tell you there is nothing more exciting in policing. It was and still is a game..the hunter and the hunted. Putting on my police and academic hats, I can also tell you that the vast majority of chases are for traffic violations and nothing more. See the PSP report.

They should be stopped except in cases of know dangerous felons. But this will never happen.

One innocent person is killed every day in police high speed chases. Some may say, "collateral damage" is to be expected.
What it it was your door that the police were knocking on at 2 am to tell you that a relative have been "collateral damage" in a high speed police chase? Would you still believe they should be continued? When placed in that context most of my students so NO.
