Lots of reasons to remember Rankin Lake. Walked to and around it w/ friends many times. What goes there these days. I know it's developed now, but is the water still clear and is it a good place to spend an afternoon? I think I have some pictures somewhere to share~~~

The lake is fenced off now. Gays now occupy the woods with their secret hideaways. GPD usually does a Gay sting and arrest a few.

That is so sad to hear. I grew up there, and Rankin Lake was the park to go to as a kid. We used to have Easter egg hunt there.

I haven't been there in years but it saddens me to hear they fenced it off. Sad, there used to be a lot of antique stonework there and you used to be able to walk to the water, there used to be bridges there over a stream that was clean enough to play in.

Don't know who you are, but my family lived there, on the road to the lake, in a little white house and the lake was a wonderful place to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends. Many pictures there. Uncle Mack worked at the lake waterworks, and cousins lived there too. Wonderful memories

if you aint gay, then maybe you don't need to be hanging out at Rankin Lake.

i'm just saying, if you don't like whats on the menu, then don't keep going to the same restuarant.

sounds like maybe you've got some issues you need to come to terms with about why you still want to hang out there, even when you know what is going on???

do you think there was no gays there back when you went there as a kid??? that place has been a gay hang out since at least the 50s if not even further back than that. i know because my granddad used to tell me about it from when he used to go there after he got back from the war.(no he wasn't gay, but he did used to see things going on there).

i think you need to come to terms with your true sexuality instead of trying to hide who you really are by bashing that which you find so attractive.

ouch! i guess i must have hit a sore nerve with my post yesterday. now suddenly you are all quiet in your fake complaining about the gays at Rankin Lake.

sounds like a bit too much cat jealousy, wanting what you can't have, or rather what your puritanical upbringing won't let you have.

but just keep coming back out here and eventually someone will take you up on what you are really looking for.

sweet dreams mr.'i hate gays so much that i keep having to go to Rankin Lake just to prove to myself how much i hate them, over and over and over.'

Rankin Lake was the very safest place to be. School cookouts and walking to and around the lake, meeting our young friends there. Taking pictures. Meeting our friends,(boys), from STANLY. Remember there wasn't too many places for a girl of 14 or 15 to go out walking to. Church was on the hill. Id say it was sort of ideal. Cousins 3 houses down,. I loved it.. Marie
