The board of trustees are so inept. They have allowed a once great school to die. Shame, when I taught there, the headmaster Chris King, could never get the board to see the path of ruin the school was on.

Their last "headmaster" Gary was a complete amateur when it comes to running a school.

Parents will be told this Thurs. that the school may not last another month.

Why would you post this? Where did you get your information? If it is true, many families are going to be hurt especially children.

You are a coward for posting this. Even if this is true, there are many families there now that depend each day on the staff to protect and teach their children. Next time you decide to spout your mouth off, grow a pair and let us all know who you are.

Shame on you for passing judgment on a situation you obviously know little about! If you at any time where employed by Arlington you obviously were there for only a paycheck! This is a family of not only staff but parents and students. From what I understand the board is combined with former parents and current parents so if you think they did not have the best interest of the school in mind you are obviously not smart. I am not only a parent of students at Arlington but Alumni so do not disgrace this school or the people that have worked hard to make this school feel like a second home to my children!

Whether the board has the best intentions or not, has nothing to do with it being inept. Are you suggesting that good intentions alone are all that is needed? You obviously have never run a business.

Fact: The board hired the last 'President' to raise money. He then hired his fishing buddy to be the fundraiser. Thus, negating the need for the President, right? No. The board allowed both to remain.

If a school needs "turned around" you hire someone who has experience turning a school around. Do you not understand this?

The guy they hired had NO history of running a school, much less successfully, and in FACT he ran a college into financial ruin.

Look it up! Google his name, he left right before it folded. Hmm, sound familiar?

And WHAT body of people hired him? And who stood by while this happened? The Board of Trustees!

Get a grip lady! I know plenty. NOW, tell me where I'm wrong??

Ask ANY teacher, administrator, secretary or parent this question:

What did Gary do exactly???

I have a grip beerhunt but it seems you don't. I have first hand witnessed restructure of the school when there was a down fall while I attended. I sounds like you feel you could have done a better job. In that case why didn yoy ask to be on the board. I also assume you will be at the meeting tonight. You nor I should not cast stones. I have 26 years in vested in this school.

I, too, worked at ACS for awhile and had a child graduate from there. Although we are not at ACS now, we still have friends that work there and attend school there. I'm not here to address who is at fault for the current situation of the school. The only thing I will say about my experience there is that the school has many good people who work very hard. We made a decision to change schools bc that's what was best for my children at that time.
Now, that being said, what I would like to address is the incredible lack of good judgement by theother1 in starting this post before the announcement was even made to the families of ACS. As it turns out, your information about the financial state of the school was correct, including the amount of money and time that the board feels that the school will survive in it's current state. Conclusion? You clearly have a friend who is on the board whose lack of discretion is at a minimum unproffessional, insensitive and unethical. They should be removed from the board as they could not possibly have the best interest of ACS at heart if they repeated such devastating information to someone who would take pleasure in annonymously posting it an online forum. For what purpose? To give previous co-workers the news that they would be losing their jobs before the board could let them know this? Did you really want to let current parents know that they were going to be thrown into total turmoil in the next 24hrs as they worried and tried to scramble to gather info about other possible Christian schools that would be willing to take their children after the 2nd semester of school had already started? Was your intent to freaking ruin the last HS semester of their lives for the seniors and to give those seniors one more thing to worry about as they plan their future??? REALLY???? So guess what? The school is in financial trouble and parents and alum are asking for help. And some of your previous co-workers and assumably friends have lost their jobs. Children are going to be moved to other schools, and there will be uncertainty for several months to come for remaining students and fac/staff. Was it really worth it to you for you to blow the lid off this early? Perhaps you were never a good fit for the Arlington Family to begin with.
Our family prayers are with the school, fac/staff students and friends.

So the biggest part of your gripe is that the information was released early? What about the fact that the information existed at all? If enrollment isn't down substantially, then most of us will logically start looking at who is running things. From what I'm reading it doesn't sound like the school hired competent administrative staff, in particular the top seat holder. What use is quibbling over the release of "insider" information? In fact, why is there a lack of transparency at all in a Christian school? These are some of the questions that need to be answered if there's a chance to save this. Looking for people to blame outside of the ones who can actually BE blamed is foolish and useless. It's time for everyone to come clean, not go on a witch hunt. How "Christian" is that?

Moron, Kathy told you plainly what your mistake was that you posted this crap on the internet period. Even if your information was true which it is unfortunately, is not something should have been posted to the internet and certainly not before yesterday's meeting were over. Yes its true there needs to be changes in management from Top to Bottom if this Great School is to survive but you posting this BS on the internet wasn't going to make that happen. Again, you are a coward and person of little integrity. That my friend regardless of what happens moving forward at ACS will not change.

The fact is we need this school to survive the year for the kids. Yes there have been things done wrong, yes there have been a lot of things done wrong. The plan should be to help the kids and not push some sort of agenda based on bad experience with ACS. ACS needs money, anything $5 or $5000.
Thank for Mrs. Wiggins for your words.
Oh yes for those that don't know me. I am a former student , spouse of a teacher and a parent. So I know just a little about this great school.
Stay positive ACS family work hard and make this happen.

The board needs to be replaced. Everyone of them. If the school is to survive it must be run as a business.

A member of the board was talking about all of this before the staff was told. And she told a competing school!

As an interested party and Christian Educator for over 25 years, let me simply say that 9 times out of ten, people try to run Christian schools like Businesses. However, I'm sure ACS doesn't hold to a "Business Model", but is going for a "Faith Model", as are true Christian schools. During rough economic times as has been the case for the past 5 years, accounts receivables have been lacking. People have frankly failed to pay tuition they made a Business/Ethical promise to pay. As has been the case where I teach, over a decade we are owed 1.5 million dollars. As I know, Arlington just hasn't wanted to throw out those students but have tried to work with their situation. They have been burned, I'm sure. With the banking crisis, if they are like us, like my school, they can't get a floating line-of-credit that all current vendors can be paid from. This credit line for small schools pays bills til the rest of summer tuitions come in and the "line" is paid back. My sources say this is ACS' main problem...not inept board members, not malefeasance on anyone's part, and pointing figures should be done at Satan as obviously Arlington has been doing something correctly for them to be under attack as they are. Arlington's first mission is to train children to be Christian students. When that happens, the devil loses. He doesn't like it one bit, and I'm sure many in this case will rise up to show God's grace, power and goodness. Just watch as He demonstrates His love toward what appears to be a closeknit Christian family there.

Arlington IS strugglng. Parents, students, and faculty WERE all told that without significant help financially, there is not enough money to have all grades complete this school year. But let me tell you what has happened since then. Students brought in their savings this morning to help save our school. Parents were on site this morning, taking the day off from their jobs, to offer their help. Alumni have been spreading the word via the various social media outlets and one after another they are showing up at the school bringing what donations they can and sharing hugs filled with love and support. Those unable to come themselves are sending their parents. The Class of 2013 has donated their substantial class bank which was to be used for a cruise upon their graduation. Former teachers and staff have called to say they have mailed a donation. School families and friends with business have offered their services to help. Several small promotions have been scheduled for tonight's basketball game at the school. ARLINGTON IS A FAMILY! God is working at this small school right now. Lives have been changed because of Arlington and so many are making a choice to "pay it forward". Please continue to pray for all the ACS families, faculty, staff, coaches, alumni, and the board members. If you are lead to contibute financially, there will be PAYPAL Donate button on the ACS website later today. All contributions are tax deductible.

Yes, because starting a witch hunt to find the source of the leak is far more important than what's happening to the children's educational future. Have you picked out a stake for this individual yet? I bet you're just great with whistleblowers as well.

In honesty though, your reaction is not unique. Whenever a faith-based school runs into trouble there is usually this effort to find whomever they can to deflect "blame".

It seems though that your biggest problem is getting people to live up to Christian tenents they agreed to when they enrolled. ALL of us are having financial problems, but paying your bills is the only Christian response. Otherwise I would suggest an aggressive aluminium can campaign.

I'm not starting a witch hunt, I don't care who the leak is. My statement has nothing to do with the leak.
In all honesty there are so many reasons for the school being in trouble that even if I or anybody else wanted to deflect blame we couldn't.
I am going end this post, hopefully, by saying this. The issue is the school staying open for the children. It doesn't matter what has been said at this point. We need to move forward and help these kids

Thanks Trent. Parents with passion and fortitude like yourself are going to help Arlington weather this storm, I'm sure. All Christian Schools doing God's will and influencing the world for good and His kingdom will continue to suffer financial and other types of trials. It's the nature of the beast. Good luck to all Arlington families, faculty, staff, and especially the children!
