I'm vindicated in the eyes of my family. I told them there were something different in the woods at night. I heard them.

In the AJC today:
By Carolyn Cunningham

Recent encounters with coyotes within the city have alarmed some Douglasville City Council members.

“They’re running rampant in the city,” exclaimed Councilman John Schildroth during a legislative work session Monday. Schildroth said he saw two coyotes cross Rose Avenue near downtown recently and Councilman Dennis McLain said a coyote approached him on another city street.

City Manager Bill Osborne said packs of coyotes have been sighted running in Hunter Park, emerging from the back of the courthouse on Hospital Drive through a culvert and a creek into the downtown area. Police Chief Chris Womack said coyotes are not a big problem and there have been no reports of aggression.

I am more worried about the thefts and crime than the coyotes.

My fiancee's sister has had problems with them around the Melrose Dr. area. Her eighteenth month old will even bang on the window and say "Cayole" when she sees one.

Seems to me that choosing what threatens us the most is a bit complicated. Dangers are all around. Coyotes are here because they are hungry and folk have destroyed habitats in the name of realestate development. Want to wait to be concerned after a child is hurt or a beloved pet made into dinner?

I believe all crimes are those based in theft. Murder me? You have stolen my life. Attack me or mine? You have taken my peace of mind. Where ever you go, there you are.

I got up close and personal with a coyote a couple of years ago. I was walking my dog and came upon one that I thought would run into the woods. It didn't happen. The coyote stood in my path and stared me down. I eased back the way I came and then took off running when I rounded the corner.

Well, you all know Douglasville used to be sorta in the country, then we had deer, cougar and Coyotes.Noone told all those animals to beat it,because population was coming in a big way. These animals had no where to go.Two years ago we saw deer near ingles in the woods one day, while walking our dog.Recently my husband saw a baby deer close to the courthouse, and right near Fairburn road.My neighbor had a rabbid cayote in his swimming pool, and had to call animal control. These animals are just as scared of you as you are of them.Just go in and bring your kids and animals in,and call the animal control, they will come and get them. Please do not shoot at them unless you are in danger, someones dog or child could be shot by mistake. You know how many accidents we have in these parts.Remember a cougar ate Jessaca Simpsons puppy not long ago.watch out for your children and pets allways.I think these animals have nowhere else to go.Little things like children and pets look like food to them.

my neighborhood in between fairburn and chapel hill roads has always had issues with coyotes. Every year or so a handout goes out to the neighborhood residents warning them that the sightings have spiked and I always get pretty nervous about that since we have a dog and a cat that go outside often. This hadn't concerned me for a while but now my cat is missing and I'm extremely worried that a coyote took him! It isn't like him to not come home for a whole day; he hasn't been seen by anyone on our block since 11pm last night. We checked outside but there were no signs of him so I'm wondering if a coyote took him off somewhere. He's a fairly large cat so if a coyote took him then it could easily take an infant, a toddler or even a small child!

The only damage I know of caused by coyotes is to lunch on the occasional dog or cat, if you can call that damage. What I am worried about are the armadillos. They dig holes that a guy could step in and break a leg. Then there is the ragweed, boy does it bother my sinuses.
