1 That's just it, it doesn't work. Just like punishing the whole class for one students pranks, to make them punish the offender by making an example of them. Ridiculous. |

2 Hunting is part of who we are in Minnesota. I remember in more sensible days, not THAT long ago, I wanted to sell my hunting rifle. I was in 11th grade. My history teacher wanted to see it since he was also a hunter. The next day we sat in the school parking lot as I took it out of the case in my trunk and he looked it over.*gasp* right there in the school lot!!! I am dang sick and tired of seeing normal kids punished and not allowed to live a normal life due to "zero tolerance". I think school officails had better grow a brain. |

1 In public schools it's a herd mentality. All are held to the level of the weakest link in an effort to maintain control. |

1 But no.....he told on himself? What an idiot. To bad they did not expel him for the year just for his stupidity. |

Any and all students that drive to school should be suspended for having bomb making materials in their possession. They may have extra clothing in the car....an empty beer or soda bottle.....gas in the tank...
That is the necessary items to make molotov cocktails. Yes, my thinking is ridiculous....just like their no tolerance policies. A box cutter, or bow is a dangerous weapon. But the baseball bat....you can have a dozen in the car. No big deal. Also would it not be interesting to see if he only had the bow, and no arrows. How dangerous is that? Maybe he could beat someone with the bow, or strangle them with the string? |

Not to mention tire irons. There have probably been more attacts with tire irons then ball bats. We better just not allow these dangerous little criminals to drive to school in the future.
Wake up america! A little common sense could, and should be used to determine the difference between someone trying to smuggle a weapon into school or just an honist mistake. Watch out girls, your 'rat tail combs' will be the next thing, along with nail clippers, bottles of spray parfume (mace). Oh yeah, shoe strings and strings out of the hoodies that can be used for garrots... See the stupidity can go on and on. Again, WAKE UP!!! |

Since we are pointing out the insanity of the Indoctrination efforts at the Government Schools...... How many children are KILLED by "Evil Cars" driven to and from the school parking lots every year vs the inappropriate use (gag) of "Zero Tolerance" type Inantimate Objects? |

This is incredibly stupid, the kid's honesty should have given everyone a clue. Schools barely tolerate kids at all now, no matter what the kids are like, as if it's too much work to educate them so they strangle them with ridiculous rules.
In the '70s, I carried a jack knife to school daily. I didn't threaten other students with it. Now there would be a pile of cops on my back, cuffing me. Oh, and I'd never get to go back to school again, likely. |

2 Why should the school have to defend itself against suspending someone that broke a rule? If the kid was not so popular, or didn't play footbal, and left a gun (weapon, just like a bow) in his car, everyone would be outraged that a full investigation wasn't done. If hunting is such a big thing in Milaca, then he should have known about the "no weapons" rule, besides the fact that every year I'm sure he gets a student handbook with rules in it. Maybe if he's not responsible enough to follow the rules, he's not responsible enough to carry around a weapon. |

This is just so insane! I think the football player/captain of wrestling team/homecoming king hopeful is not someone I would suspect of 'snapping' and going to his truck during third period to take out his oppressors. Obviously you also have to look at the kid. 99% of people realize this is ridiculous.

1 Common sense or lack of it has gotten more administrators in trouble than anything. Can you imagine this? Tomorrow some kid that's a little off shoots an arrow at someone, the next day some kid in Milaca gets caught with a bow in his car. The school doesn't suspend him. OH THE OUTRAGE OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD! They'd be so mad! Why didn't the school suspend him? Why did he get away with breaking rules, because he's into sports? We want an investigation! Obviously he knew he was doing something he wasn't supposed to. Kids telling everyone about their weapons has stopped a few school shootings if I remember correctly. I can totally imagine a kid this age, as a joke, shooting an arrow at someone as a joke, oh the problems if it was on school property. And don't say he's too responsible to do something like that, the kid couldn't even be responsible enough to take the thing out of his car. |
