Parents seek review of cheerleading tryout policy

I think the parents are correct to seek fairness. I further think that the children who are on the squad and not suppose to be, need to speak up and let their cheer coach know that it's not fair.

I remember going through this with my daughter. She cheered for nine years and there was not a single year that grievances were not filed. The grievances usually went all way up to the School Board for a final decision. Never, in nine years were the tryout scores overturned or changed. Cheerleader tryouts are deadly. I heard the principal say one time that he would rather deal with beauty pageant parents than cheerleader parents. He actually said that you could tell a parent why their daughter did not win in a beauty pageant but you damn sure better not tell them their daughter was not good enough to be a cheerleader!
