what a wonderful guy. Frank was gruff and crotchety at times, but when you got to know him ,he was a great fellow. always with an interesting story, or ready to help a downed or stranded biker.
i spent many years camping at Two wheels Only , it was like my second home, with Frank and Jeanie the parents i always wanted. thank you for all the wonderful memories....Frank i will miss you |

I read of the "Two Wheels Only" resort in a motorcyclist magazine and took it upon myself to head south from Toronto Canada early one spring to see this place.
It was an adventure just to locate Suches Ga. but once on the road North of Dalonaga you couldn't miss it. Road weary l pulled into the park and observed several tents around the grounds and a two story lodge with rocking chairs on the wrap around porch. A man with a warm hand and big smile greeted me as l got off the bike..Frank Cheek. It was as if Frank had been an old friend..our 22 year age difference meant nothing to Frank ,my long hair ,beard and Harley were not viewed with distain but with a genuine acceptance of a fellow "Rider" My first real taste of pit BBq and Southern Hospitality . Over the next few years it became a regular ride for me, I educated a whole bunch of "Northern Boys" from Canada about this Oasis in the hills of Georgia and led many a run to the Mountain Retreat . I met many good friends there but over time they have become seperated rememberances. Jeanie l hope the peace of the Lord is upon you and your Family. Being a pilot ,like Frank, l will leave with this... Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long delirious, burning blue, I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew - And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untresspassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God. Pilot Officer Gillespie Magee No 412 squadron, RCAF Killed 11 December 1941 Dave Brand Toronto,Canada |
