have tried on occasion to make a comment online on certain articles that are published in this newspaper just to have them censored by the staff that moderates the comments...truthful comments made by me were censored, yet other obnoxious comments, some with racist overtones were allowed to be added for viewing...could this mean that there is a biggoted, racist staff member reviewing these comments? what ever happened to my first amendment right to free speech? seems the staff only publishes what comments aid their agenda...anyone else have this problem?

There is a young man named Eric Head who needs some people to sponser him in his weight lifting comp. the next one will be in October2009. He is going to Lanier tech and working at Chestattee regional hospital in Dahlonega. He is a very nice young man who needs his hometown support. Is there anybody out there willing to help him.May God bless.

The editor is the real culprit. He doesn't want anyone saying anything he doesn't like. This has been a pattern everywhere he's worked.

I had the same problem with my editorial being censored or not printed. I took this up with the owner of the Nugget and my article was promptly published.

Guess the owner should be considering a management change.

Still not getting comments through. Looks like the paper doesn't care what readers think. Just believe whatever they print.

Doesn't have to be a letter. Just making a comment on one of their stories is just as tough. Guess they never heard of a different perspective. Notice how many of the stories have no comment at all. Either people don't care enough to comment or the paper doesn't care enough to publish.

i have made posts that never showed up. and they were nothing like the ones that did make the cut. the nugget is very biased and one sided.i always hate election time. it depends on who you jog the reservoir trail with if you get your comments or letters posted. all i hear is that we need change. i believe i heard the same thing a few years ago and we see how that is working out. On all levels

in the county of lumpkin, it doesn't matter what the average people think. There are groups that can manipulate and get what they want in any situation and they take care of their own. Dahlonega is one of those towns where everyone who in in a leadership position from school, to goverment, police, even church need to be thrown out and replaced with someone who is actually educated and well versed in the area they are supposed to be in charge of handling. Until that happens, we will have the same circular cycle that is in a perpetual state of stopped. It would be best if another county bought it and took over the management like has happened with other poorly run counties in history.

Does the Nugget owner do background checks before hiring people? Seems like he'd want to know about this editor's connection to a twice-convicted felon back in Kentucky.

I truly wish someone would explain the First Amendment to the United States Constitution to everyone in the country - especially those who think just because they disagree, there must be a First Amendment problem. Here's the deal: The First Amendment guarantees that the GOVERNMENT shall not make any LAWS which deny you the right to free speech. It doesn't say a word about the local newspaper, your employer or your boss. It's just that simple.

mine too was ccensored, everyt ime I call out a politicians decision, or talk of other bounties tax issues compared to ours, Lumpkin is raising taxes a gain, school taxes are going to be over 1600 a year on a 100k home, JUST THE SCHOOL TAXES, the liar politicians told people other counties raised theirs higher (published in the nugget), well the truth is the other counties are lower than our mill rate now, Forsyth and Dawson counties mill rate is lower than ours overall, School taxes and county taxes

we have a corrupt gov and newspaper in lumpkin county
