Only the Social Quarters will be closed for 7 days and yes renovations are taking place during that 7 days. Meetings as well as Bingo will still be going on!
Unless you are a member of Colonial Beach Moose Lodge,it shouldn't concern you the reason they are closed for a week.
Funny all the nasty remarks made concerning this great Fraternal Organization. Are any of you aware of the great community service they do? Are you aware that they adopted families for Thanksgiving and Christmas? Do you know that they visit the local nursing homes and take little gifts to all the residents? Do you know that the Lodge as well as the Women contribute thousands of dollars to local fire departments, rescue squads, library, offer scholarships to high school seniors and also a nursing student? As well as national charities such as Alzheimer's Association, St Baldrick's Children's Cancer research and many more.
Not everyone is a member because they have a social quarters, if you are so interested in the Moose and not a member contact the Lodge and someone will gladly explain what we are truly about! Do you know that every Lodge and Chapter help to keep our child city Mooseheart running and our Senior home Moosehaven? Probably not because unless you are a member you do not know about all this.
People like to talk when things aren't perfect but see no thread of all the good the Moose does.
If the Moose is closed because of a missed meeting, yes the MEMBERSHIP should be aware of this BUT NOT THE GENERAL PUBLIC. Why? Because the Moose is a private organization that you have to be a member of to get these details and unless you attend meetings you should have no way of knowing.
Oh and just a reminder to all that posted on this thread, the Officers are humans and yes they make mistakes. Have each of you never made a mistake or forgotten to do something you were supposed to? If you say you have never forgotten to do something or made a mistake you know that is untrue!
Ponder these thoughts as you continue to slam the Moose. It's a shame people have nothing better to do than be negative about an Organization that works hard for the community as well as Mooseheart and Moosehaven.
Soonergal can you explain to me what MISS is? I AM a member and have no idea what MISS is or why they would have the authority to "shut us down".

To Moose Member:
Lot of truth to what you say. Agreed, the Moose do a great service to the community and well they should. This is how the Moose justifies its tax exempt status and operates as a "private" club.
The same applies to the Elks, Eagles, VFW and American Legion. All such organizations in the nation do as much or more for thier
charitable causes and this is a great thing and credit to that organization.
This, and nothing else, changes the fact that many of these clubs, including the moose, have bad eggs. Only about 10-20 percent of these club members really care about the lodge mission. These are the few who get on lodge committees
run for lodge office positions, attend meetings and plan and put on events.
Many of the rest of the membership pay dues because its a place to gather and drink cheap.
These are the ones who sit at the bar and spend money on beer and gambling games which pay your bills. This is fine too, but it needs to be policed to the point that they don't get overly intoxicated, exhibit conduct that annoys or offends other members.
The moose is, along with many other clubs, a fine organization. But it has to clean house now and then and retain its place as an honorable club with

I think your numbers are backwards, MN has a 10% rule. It's all part and parcel we call the uncertainty of life. I could explain it to you, but if you live long enough and are observant you will have a lightbulb go off one day :) I've ben in that 10% and made 2 sojunrnes there.(I frankly think once was enought w/hindsight now)
I have experienced some real egg-head atmospheres and at all levels 10% remains valid. No matter what you do you can't change the rule
The AA rule about 17 to 1 comes to mind every time I THINK I see someone with a "problem". The older I get the smarter my parents get. I am approaching 68, my parents died at 54 and 62 and that feeling remains valid :) You will sometime in life experience that portion of the sine wave unless your hands have hole scars :)
