Hey Jill, is it true you stayed home during another storm? How many storms does that make that you have missed? You are quite a supervisor. How you keep your job is beyond me. For those who don't know you, Jill is supervisor at the wastewater treatment plant who has made a habit of staying home during severe storms while other employees are threatened with loss of their jobs if they don't show up. Good job, Jilly-Bean, and Happy Thanksgiving

You are so correct. But when the WWTP employees tried to complain last year, the Town Manager shut them up. Verbal abuse, harassment, threats, etc. are all okay if you're one of Val's girls.

If you all are so sure of "the facts" why don't you bring your concerns to a real source? I don't think "topix" is going to help you. Oh, I forgot; y'all are cowards. What was I thinking!

These concerns have been brought to Town Council, but they are the cowards. They are afraid of Val and the Town Attorney. Kept pushing it off to the "new Council". Well guess what, Wanda is the only "new" person on Council, so each of them will STILL have to deal with it!!!

Isn't she the one responsible for the water? Another post said that a recent inspection had nearly 3 pages of violations?

I think what he's trying to suggest is what I did.
Open up the link, then open up the three Power Point spreadsheets for 2012.
Scan the communities and businesses listed.
You will not find the Town of Colonial Beach anywhere on them.
You will find businesses in the area listed, but nothing about the municipal water supply.
If that is not enough to debunk this latest round of rumor-mongering about the town's water supply, I suggest you contact Town Hall in the morning.
They can provide you with all the data you need to do just that.
If you pay for Town water, you have already received a summary of inspections as required under state law and you get one every year.
not surprised

these concerns were taken to town hall, with responses that the employees did not have valid complaints. all was forgiven against the supervisor, nothing more was said or done. even going to the top did nothing but complaints swept under the rug

Try $155,000 for public works management.

Is that for all PW Management? How many people does this $155k that your quoting pay for? Still very low. You need to get out more into the real world.

Colonial Beach is a very small Town.It has only one Wastewater Plant and one water system. The Roads repairs are subcontracted. So what does it really take to manage this compaired to other Towns in the real world? The tax base or need for this expensive management is not their.

Your fault is that you perceive this as "expensive" management. It is a bad paradigm with folks in this area.$155k for ONE good manager for a waste water plant or other PW works facility would be stretching it a bit. But $155k for TWO or more is too little $$$ to attract any level of competency in this day and age. You are correct in stating that the tax base can not support the often-needed higher level of management in order to be competent, and therein lies the real question(s) behind this...... Keep paying a much reduced rate for management and only attract the managers with failures behind them and poor track records? Or pony up for experience and success that will ultimately save you money in the long run?

And to go one step further, maybe this is why this town can not grow in an efficient and stable manner?

Why have 3 managers when 1 is all that is needed? When Val Foulds has a problem with a manager ,instead of working with them and making corrections She just hires another manager to oversee the failing manager. She has put 3 at the public works dept when 1 could do the job.She has created new job positions without the council approval required.Either the Council members don,t care or they have no oversite into the Town Managers actions. The police dept is another example of this. The situation between Kenny Blevins and Kenny JR. would not be allowed in any government dept and should be considered nepatism.

Rumor-mongering? Come on Tim, you've been there long enough to know better. Either you have your head buried in the sand, or you are being lied to by the town management.

The inspection report is dated October 24, 2012 and is signed by Sam Neth, Assistant District Engineer for the Dept. of Health Office of Drinking Water. The defiencies noted include lack of screening in several areas, replacing a meter, installation of air gaps and sample taps, freeze protection, computer alterations, leaks, lack of check valves, need for erosion protection, etc. Apparently one of the underground reservoirs is not running, as the Health Dept. requires notification before resuming operation. A deadline of November 23rd was given for some of this work. Was this deadline met?

The town management has become quite adept at hiding these issues from the citizens. Tim, don't let them hide it from Council.
come on now

this is getting out of hand, obviously she must be doing a good job or she would be released. you men should get a grip and realize that women can do a mans job, especially in management. Val has proven that time and time again. seems like there aren't any qualified men for these jobs if women are getting them
