Do something to make it better, anything at all just pick one thing since there are so many, and make a change

There is nothing wrong with the Town and the Managment and Topix. and Nobody has the Nutzs to change things take and reduce overhead by cutting down employees or if there are 61 employees put 2 on each street and make a clean sweep. Park some of the Trucks and Car pool Remenber Curb Appeal very inportant. Drive down Colonial Ave or infront of Town Hall and see all the Grass and weeds on Curb. The Board walk is in need of repair before someone gets Hurt I know some good Lawyers if a personal Injury happens because TOWN HAS BEEN TOLD AND PHOTOS TAKEN and still there.

ah yes... the famous "I am going to change the World". The only way CB is going to change is when we start forgetting the Glory Days of Colonial Beach over 60 years ago and start to embrace it's future...it's survival.

TL:DR Old people are going to need to start dying soon before that happens.

So history and "change" can't co-exist without the "old people" needing to die off? Your parents and grandparents should be ashamed of you.

Wow, quite the list. I hope she has her house for sale. She brings to light the typical "list" of issues, but #16 boggles my mind. Seafood???!!?? We have awful seafood??!! Steamed crabs and some fried catfish, both caught locally are awesome. I second everyone else's sentiments....please leave.

Wow, what a list! Must agree with most of the comments above. If you are that unhappy, either get involved or get moving. I am looking forward to your presentation at the next Town Council meeting on how we can move our great little town forward.

I don't find a list like this beneficial but I respect people's right to free speech.

If you would like to create change, I need more Block Captains.

She does have some valid points, though she could have gone about it in a different manner. We should open up our dialogue to include some of her very vague gripes about this town. To imply ALL town employees is not fair to the ones who do care as an example. We need to step back a bit and evaluate the town.

People please: Enough already: I was just down there a couple of months ago: There is nothing and I repeat nothing wrong with CB: People were out and about: The Beach was full of Visitors from all over the place: The Car Show was amazing: You know if the Riverboat or whatever its called now would bring back the SLOTS: That would mean more people coming to CB and more Revenues for CB: Then it can be revitalized again:::::::. Just a Thought:

Ok, fair enough.

Vague gripe # 3: What the heck is wrong with the library??

I go there every Saturday and look forward to the experience.

Just a point about retired people and some of the younger types who don't understand us and our ways of doing things... some might find this interesting...

The Green Thing

Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the older retired woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags werenít good for the environment.

The woman apologized and explained,ďWe didnít have this green thing back in my earlier days.Ē

The clerk responded,ďThatís our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations.Ē

She was right ó our generation didnít have the green thing in its day.

Back then, WE RETURNED MILK BOTTLES, SODA BOTTLES and BEER BOTTLES to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled. But we didnít have the green thing back in our day.

Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags that we reused for numerous things, most memorable besides household garbage bags, was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our schoolbooks. This was to ensure that public property,(the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribbling. Then we were able to personalize our books. But itís too bad we didnít do the green thing back then.

We walked up stairs, because we didnít have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didnít climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We didnít have the green thing in our day.

Back then, we washed the babyís diapers because we didnít have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts ó wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right; we didnít have the green thing back in our day.

Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house ó not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana .. In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didnít have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didnít fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didnít need to
go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But sheís right; we didnít have the green thing back then.

We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didnít have the green thing back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didnít need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint.

But isnít it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didnít have the green thing back then.

Funniest thing will be when these whinners get to be retired and our age... think it's called Justice... LOL
