I was also screwed for $19.19. Legacy said someone called my house collect (on a night I was not at home)and they said someone in my house accepted a collect call. I am having my MasterCharge not pay these fees. Legacy said it will be on all my future bills

I used to work there, and they are a total rip off. This company spent most of their time in court getting sue. Customer service sucks.

I went to a mall and my phone was out of charge. I had to make a call and swiped my debit card. Later, I see a $35 charge on my debit card. I tried calling their 1-800 number and the lady that talked had nothing to do. To add to all this, the lady that spoke was very rude and harsh. I must say I have never been treated that way by anybody. It is totally ridiculous! TOTAL RIP OFF and FRAUD.

I was also charged $35 for a phone call that only lasted a few seconds. At no time are you informed that the charges will be more than what is listed on the phone ($1.00). I've spent an hour talking with these people and caught them playing carefully crafted word games in an effort to maintain some resemblance of a legal operation. I'm assuming they are still in business only because they've found a legal loophole or grey area that prevents them from being shut down outright. I'm in the process of filing credit card disputes, notifying the Attorney General office, and filing complaints with any government agencies I can find that oversee the telecommunications industry.

I have been looking into this company and found that they are simply processing and billing calls for privately owned payphones. They don't own these phones. If the owner of these phones used another company, then we would be complaining about that company and not Legacy. The issue is that we need to regulate the rates with the states and FCC. Legacy only does what is contracted by the owner of the phones as long as they are within regs, they are not doing anything illegal.

Don't blame the victims of this company. This RIP OFF "company" doesn't do this on credit cards. We rcvd our bill from verizon and they charged us $160.00 for collect calls we never accepted. Calls went to our answering machine and were never picked up! When I called them a rep named Jeremiah was extremely rude and sarcastic and said "they did not provide their services for free". THEY DID NOT PROVIDE ANY SERVICE TO ME! He basically called me a liar and told me to feel free to dispute it and if "some day they decided they were in the wrong they might take care of it". I have called Verizon and they have removed the charges. We will dispute all these charges with Legacy. I have been reading much about them now and even when they promise to refund money they do not .....they just give more run around. Well, they do not have to refund me.... I have not paid them, I am not going to pay them! They are thieves!

My charge was only for $4.44...big deal, right? Well, I remember the night the call came through and I did not accept the collect call. So there you go...they charge even when the call is denied. I call the company to find out what the charges were for and got the same response as some of you. They can do nothing, I must submit in writing my complaint. I don't understand why a third party provider can access my AT&T bill and charge me for something. I intend not to pay for it and let AT&T handle this. The whole system is screwed up.

Actually after looking at my previous month's AT&T bill, I see where Legacy charged an additional $10.96 for the same collect call that I didn't accept! This is a rip off but if you receive this charge through AT&T as a 3-party billing, AT&T may credit your account for the bogus charges and dispute the bill for you. It was worth the phone call to AT&T.

I didn't know anything about this company until I received a bill in the mail. Just 2 weeks later my wife received one from them as well.

We don't stay in hotels, use payphones, or any other means of getting charged for long distance or collect calls. We don't even travel outside of KY. We only use cell phones, like most people.

But we both got bills that show collect calls from a jail in northern KY, charged to a local phone number that isn't ours. We don't have a lindline, but that is a landline number.

It looks to me like they are purchasing names and mailing addresses of people, then looking up phone numbers to use in this scam to make it look like legitimate phone calls. I am amazed that something like this can happen in America. This whole country is one big pile of shit these days. Try pulling a scam like that yourself. You will easily end up in federal prison. But these businesses get away with murder, probably literally.

My suggestion to everyone is to pretend you received a letter from this company in the mail. Go to bbb.org and look up Legacy LD located at 10833 Valley View Street - Suite 150 - Cypress, CA 90630 -(877) 553 - 4440. File a complaint on the company. If we get enough people filing with the BBB this will become a more serious level complaint that will shut that place down once and for all. Whoever owns that company should be rotting in federal prison. www.golegacy.com is the website address.

Received a separate bill from Legacy in the amount of 55 bucks for a collect call that was placed on 5/2011 from a hospital in another state. I know ppl in the state however none of them where in the hospital on this date. Called At&T who routed me to Legacy! After asking how can I dispute this issue, he told me to hold for a manager, when the manager came to the phone, it was the exact same person who told me to hold! Claimed he was the manager, he did not just speak to me and his name was Borris Edmundson. He tells me that I can dispute it but I have to send in the payment....well whats the point of the dispute I asked...silence! I said so AT&T is perfect and this could no way be in error, he replied "yes, we are perfect and you will just need to pay the bill". I proceeded to ask more questions and guess what....he hung up or pressed mute, either way as I called for him, there was no answer so I hung up. Called back, pissed off spoke to a different person who said he would transfer me to his manager "Borris"! No thanks, I hung up! Called corporate and spoke with a nice gentlemen who explained to me that Legacy is old and no longer used by AT&T, they are an independent company who solely handles long distance, that's why the bill is separate. He then explained how they bill in 5 min increments and he has heard cases where the answer machine may pick up and ppl are being charged for that! This is a scam and so is Legacy! Unless they provide me proof of me answering the phone and accepting the call, this bill will not get paid!

Our small business just received our latest credit card statement with 4 Legacy collect calls from December 10 to 12 totalling $17.63 charged to an employee card that isn't even activated and hasn't been used in years, probably over a decade! I called our credit card company, and the fraud department will investigate. I'm hesitant to call Legacy since toll-free numbers are excluded from caller-ID blocking. I filled out their online customer support form anonymously instead.

My husband is stuck in the middle of the sticks in Fla. We had been talking through prepaid cards. I finally got one that you just reload. After reloading one time started getting invalid CC# and transfering to Operator.. Well it just hung up never did it go anywhere. So I looked up the Friends and Family crap that it kept saying when it woould go through its minute speech. Activated an account which mind you the Bread winner is tucked away so what I do have on the card I am hoping to speak to him with. 15 dollar set up fee plus the 25.00 I put on there . Ok so I was tinking that IT SHOULD be cheaper to do it this way. I got 2 phone calls.. On 25.00 prepaid card I get at least 3 and and change left over. So I call and try to reload my card. HA MINIMUM of $15.00 PLUS 5.95 charge to load it because you can't load it on the computer WHERE I SET THE ACCOUNT UP. Because the LAZY ASSES need more then 24 hours to do what??? SO now here I sit can't speak to my husband.
To BLOCK someone's call is JUST FREAKIN WRONG!!!!!
