I have been dropping off students at Kennedy/Walker for 6+ years & have witnessed, on numerous occasions, the danger of the crosswalk on Crescent & wondered why there is not a light or even an overhead caution light or crossing guard-does it take the death of a student to bring this dangerous situation to light? This problem should be a #1 priority on the City's agenda.

You are right Marlene my son goes to Kennedy and I'm so sad since I heard about what happened to the student I hope that the City and police do something about it we don't want any other student loose their life , what's their fault they going to school to be good or they putting their life to study , I pray for her parent may God give them the patience.

At the very least there are signs that are made with lights that blink.... in Ohio those are used due to the snow and it allowing people to see during bad weather. This is very sad and should be a priority like Marlene stated!

As we were at the vigil last night there were 2 other students who almost got hit by cars......something must be done!!!!

May the Reeves family be blessed with patience, strength, and courage to get through this devastating time. Now that you are all in our prayers and hearts. God Bless.

I dropped my son off at Kennedy moments after Sydney was hit. It was very hard to drive by but seeing the officer kneeling next to her and gently touching her back filled me with such compassion. I am sure Sydney knew she was not alone. My heart goes out to her family and friends. Sydney you will be missed by so many and even those (like me) who did not know you personally. God bless you and rest in His arms dear angel!!

Rob unfortunately whether or not that crosswalk is there THE KIDS WILL CROSS THERE. A stop sigh would be more effective or even a light? Its really sad but NOTHING is ever done in these cases until one of our kids is killed. My daughter goes to an Elementary in the area and SOME of the parents are so grotesque in their noncaring attitude when THEY are in a hurry to drop of THEIR kid/s and get on THEIR way. in the afternoons i go extra erly so as to find a parking. Parents coming to get the 120p kids (and even the ones on our dismissal) CONTINUALLY roll the stop sign around the corner. it makes me so mad. I also, watch as parents CONTINUALLY yell to their kids to "cross the street" to the waiting car. EVERYONE must be more attentive while driving ESPECIALLY NEAR OUR SCHOOLS

Today I drove down that street and people were racing down the street. People did not care that there were children all around. As I drove I noticed a police office parked at the park's parking lot. Cars were doing much more than 25mph. The policeman did not move from that parking lot and watched the cars zoom towards the crosswalk. Please people slow down. Children please use the crosswalk at the signal.

that crosswalk is so dangerous. when will the city finally learn to put something there? when another student dies? our dear sydney has died because of it. something honestly needs to be done.
