@AW,, As a child my parents would bring me to ky on vacations with the grandparents. I recall the first dinner I ate at one grandparents house, chicken and dumplings. I was about 5 years old and told to dig in. I picked up the big spoon and stirred the large bowl of dumplings and this god awful claw came rising up out of the thickness with a dumpling lodged between it's toes. Scared the hell out of me. The old timers cooked the chicken foot right on the leg for flavor back in day, but I'd never seen it nor expected this creature from the grey lagoon to come rising out of there. Tasted great though.

On a lighter note, chicken feet are the number one movie snack in China and Japan, it is their popcorn.

Goodmorning to the good posters. Today the olymplc opening ceremonies kick off at 7:00 I think. I will be watching for sure, haven't missed one since '60's. I 'm glad the ousted Olympian was not ours that made the racial comments. Best to know where you are before opening your mouth. Well, got to mow a few graves before the rain hits.
Have a great day,,,,,,,, trolls, not so much.
Goodmorning, Humpaburn here. Today the olympic opening ceremonies kick arse at 7:00 I think, not sure I'm a little bit drunk. I will be watching for sure, haven't missed one since the 60's. I'm glad the ousted Olympian was not ours that made the racial comments. Best to know where you are before opening your mouth, you might get your arse kicked. It wasn't very nice for her to say she would like to see Humpaburn slam a race car into the wall doing 200 mph.
Well, got to go mow a few graves before the rain hits. That way I can be over someone today. Have a great day,,,,,,,you old stale farts not so much. Humpaburn out.

Oh my dear Lord, I literally just spewed coffee on my computer screen and keyboard, LOL! No lie! SO TRUE THAT STORY IS! My Mom always told us that she and her siblings fought over the "scratchers" as they would call them. They always fried up the chicken feet too when my Grandma or my Great Grandma Gregory culled a hen, usually two hens because there were so many of them, sitting down at the diner table, hehe. She says there was many a time they where sent from the table to go out and cut a switch for fighting over those "scratchers", LOL!! And as it's a well known fact, that switch had better be a good one or you went back out to get a better one and got a worse woopin'.

<<<snort>>>
I need a minute to recover from that story, HAHAHA!!
(Wiping tears from my eyes, hehe). Thanks, Hemp. I love starting my day with a gut busting giggle.
Much obliged to ya for that one, darlin'. My day has started of well!!

Oh thanks , I hope to be doing something right with my life.... Maybe they will reap from it someday , if not then hope for them to have memories, to pass on. I need to register as well, but can anyone see your email? Is it secure?
Yes, they WILL benefit from knowing their heritage. Not so much now if they are really young, but once they are older they'll be pleased that you passed on the legacy of their ancestors.

Also, you can register without fear of the email or private messages as they are called, being viewed by anyone other than who you send them to. They're completely secure. Only you, the recipient and the Mods can see them. And the Mods have too much to do on a daily basis to scour our private messages. They are also deleted internally after I think 30 days...

Please do register. But let us know it's you once you get it done. You don't have to completely fill out that profile thing, either. Also, you can set your comment posting history to private so that no one can chase you down by following your posts in order to stalk you. It's completely optional.

I like to keep my comment history public, but have to reset it periodically because I have a stalker or two that don't like my presence in the threads. That's just too bad though, I'm not going anywhere or I'd have left here over 7,000 comments ago, hehe.

Glad to have you here!! Again, welcome to the dead bird thread! So happy to have you here, as I'm sure the others are too!

I'm absolutely certain that this wasn't directed at you personally, BFH. You DO have an odd moniker though considering that we presently have another "fart" type moniker already in our midst at the present time.....

As you become more familiar with this thread and the people who frequent it, you'll notice that there are a select few who don't really have anything to add unless it's rude, crude and off topic. They enjoy placing what are sometimes pretty vulgar attacks against others in here.. The comments don't usually stay up very long though..

Please don't leave, and don't let them get to you should they zero in.. The Mods are keeping BIG time tabs on this thread lately for some reason...

I'm just floating around trying to get peoples opinions on the UN small arms "treaty" that our government is probably about to sign. What do you think?
I think it compromises our Second Amendment and puts law abiding citizens in danger of any crazy out there, also puts us in danger from our own government should they decide to control the people with force.{and they will}

Yeah, it's not hard to figure a con when one comes in. Their verbiage, word misspellings, punctuation, etc., are frequently dead giveaways.

As you can see, this thread is quickly reaching the 65,000 comment count. It veers off topic, and that's to be expected when you have so many people placing their opinions and insight. But some very interesting things are discussed, along with informative comments and links.

You have to admit, it's always entertaining in one way or the other, to say the least, hehe.

My granddaughter that I have only seen 3 times in 8 years has been here for a week listening to all my ancestoral stories as well as the history of this land and it's peoples and going through her Granny's old photos and picking out some special ones to take back home with her. Sadly, she will leave today. She has turned into quite the young lady and is diplomatic enough to brag on my country cooking. She especially liked the chicken and dumplins, tomatoes, corn on the cob, the green beans with country ham bits, baked corn bread, and fried apples. For the past week, we have boycotted hotdogs, bologna, and pizza. LOL
Good LORD willing and the creek don't rise, I will be back on this thread just before sunset and again before sunrise. Those are my times to wind down or crank up. Until then, may everyone have a good day and be Thankful for our blessings... CLICK....
She is going to treasure these recent memories for the rest of her life. Specially the pics you shared. And you mentioned fried apples!!! YIKES!! I'm going to have to have some now, and soon, LOL!

I can't imagine! One of my favorite ways to know summer has arrived is eating fresh cucumbers with onions and salt and pepper in vinegar. I'm not much of a cook but this I can do. Just doesn't taste right when it's cold outside.
You are so right. I just made some after reading your post.

Comments are coming down again, and fast. I see that Topix is taking this thread seriously as far as complaints about the spam being placed on here has gone.

This is just my personal theory, but due to a couple of odd comments that were placed on here yesterday concerning "certain" users possibly getting banned soon, along with thinking back on WHO placed those comments (beings as they seem to be the ones who are getting their comments taken down), it might be backfiring on them.....

Like I said, that's just my personal theory. I have no way to back that up, but it makes sense if you think about it.

*Just a heads up: Don't hit the reply button on something that might be pegged for deletion. Your comment will probably come down too because it contains the content that got removed.....

Charlie, stick with the thread and don't let it get to ya, hon. I have a distinct feeling that a few clocks are 'tic toc-ing" in this thread as far as what's being seen and removed so far....

It's a shame that people get harassed just because they make a simple yet harmless comment. It IS against the rules of Topix to harass people and stalk them.

I was even accused of smoking too much 'dope' yesterday, lol. i don't know how far back that comment was at this point and I really don't feel like dredging it back up, LOL. But that couldn't be further from the truth, although I OUTWARDLY ADMIT that if it was made legal for medicinal use, I'd partake in a heartbeat.....

Actually, the reply to a post that is removed doesn't come down with a deleted post. In fact the deleted post is reprinted in small print with the reply. I think she forgot to say; Mother may I? or Simon say's.
