Unlike myself, you have not lived here long enough to know that the junk has rematerialized many times over, and has also become a part of the landscape of any newly acquired properties over the years.
The grocery store is a clean well-stocked place to shop and the prices are reasonable. It is not junky.
Also, the hardware store has been a lifesaver for me. Wade donated fertilizer, soil, and equipment for the sprinkler system at Kasihta Commons. I just step around the "junk".

I've seen this, but it's still "merchandise" and he keeps selling the stuff as part of his business. Apparently it's profitable junk and if so it's part of what keeps him in business.

I"ve found exactly what I needed to finish a project in that 'junk' more times than I can remember. It's one of hte last real hardware stores.

So have I pogo. The house that I live in was nothing but a shell when it was purchased in the 70's. Almost all of the renovation has been done with items purchased from the hardware store.

Not sure why.

Very interesting question, since I thought Red Oak was a private business.
