Hardy's term in office has produced a bloated workforce, he's created new positions and the people that are his personal friends have been given the jobs that pay more than $30K per year while local people, with one exception, get the lower-paying jobs. I expect that the new county manager MIGHT be asked to oversee the DPW. We could save $54K per year if the Director's and his administrative assistant's position were done away with.
The foreman has done a fairly good job of running the DPW and the complaints that need to be addressed usually come through the Board of Commissioners' office anyway. the legal and money matters are handled by the manager now, so their may not be a need for a DPW director.
Director does not need an administrative asst., just min wage secretary.

Given the circus that cuseta just went thrugh; what "clown" would even think about going to work there? Might get some third rated down on his luck, but never will get a top notch qualified, only a fool would come near that town. It's greasy,
nasty,and smells of corruption.

<quoted text>Pogo, I usually agree with u on most things that u have wrote, but I must disagree with u on this. The mgr that I think they are going to hire does not have any expertise in what the public works are charged with taking care of, for example, roads, garbage, and repairs to equipment. He will spend most of his time in office and meetings. these people need constant supervision.
Feel free to disagree any time, it's what keeps this place going.

I will backtrack on this a little; I've done some research and they do need someone out there, but I can't justify $54K for two people to answer the phone and delegate responsibility. Conversely, I don't believe in underpaying good help so perhaps the supervisory staff should be cut to one person?

I guess this means that we will not be seeing your resume' among the applications. Drat! I hate it when our choices are limited.

Regarding that "circus" you saw, that was a vivid demonstration of democracy in action where 72% of the people said that they didn't like the direction their leaders were taking us so we sent them home and replaced them with people whom we think will listen to us. "Government by the people"; seldom practiced anymore.

Someone once told me that I could tell a person to hail a cab and go to hell in a way that would make him want to pay the fare.

Best wishes of the season to y'all, too, troublemaker!

Lowell Thurmond, you want to talk bad about Cusseta, well it looks like to me you might be from Columbus. One question to you have been on the south side of Columbus lately (itsgreasy,
nasty, and smells of corruption.) too, but people come to Columbus and work everyday. so stick it, we have a good town with good people and we dont need your kind of personality here. so dont put in a resume, i would hate to be the one to reject it, with so many others.

Yes that is what I thought. He probably lives on victory drive in a dive motel shacked up with a crackhead. Because he sounds like a crackhead.
