Reducing is one thing; putting out of business is another. That's the effect cutting the budget of the Cusseta-Chattahoochee County Sheriff's Department from $523,961 to $298,983 would have, Chattahoochee ...

Yeah the Judge was correct, But look at what the idiots did. Hired the freaking police chief anyway and now he has free rein to spend our Tax Dollars.

What a joke consolidation was suppose to Improve the county and eliminate duplication of services.

When will Cusseta-Chattahoochee county get a real Public safety department, to include Emergency Medical Services, Ambulances stationed in Cusseta and improvements to the fire department.

Also major improvemnts are need to the intersection at Wells stret and hwy 280,(the blinking Light), money could be better spent here than on another speed trap police department.

I AGREE WITH THE PERSON WHOM SAID IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE SHERIFF VOTE HIM OUT. WELL FROM WHERE I SAT. THAT WOULD BE A MIRICAL. BECAUSE I KNOW FROM PASTED AND THE PRESENT. IT IS NOT EASY TO GET RID OF A MAN WHO IS VERY CORRUP. HE HAS BEEN KNOWN TO BUY PEOPLE'S VOTES. ALSO TO MAKE THREATS TO PEOPLE TO GET HIS WAY. HE COMES ACROSS AS IF HE DONE GOOD
FOR PEOPLE. BUT THERE IS TWO SIDES TO HIM. I KNEW
HIS FORMER WIFE VERY WELL. AND TO KNOW WHAT I WITTNESS OF WHAT HE DID TO HER AND HER FAMILY WAS PRETTY UGLY. I AM NOT SAYING HE NOT RIGHT IN SOME THINGS. BUT HE IS NOT PERFECT AS SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE
HIM TO BE. I FEEL HE HAS TO MUCH CONTROL OVER THIS TOWN AND ALWAYS HAD. THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE WHO
ARE SCARED OF HIM AND HAVE GOOD RESON TO BE. THERE
ARE THINGS THAT HAS HAPPEN THAT HE WAS PART OF BUT NEVER GOT THE BLAME FOR. BECAUSE HE WILL NOT DO THE CRIME HIM SLFE. BUT HE IS NOT ABOVE HIRING PEOPLE TO DO IT FOR HIM. THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE
WHO KNOW THIS. WE NEED TO STOP THE CONTROL AND STOP PUTTING A PRICE ON THE PEOPLE IN THIS COMMUNITY.
WE TALK ABOUT MAKING A BETTER FUTRUE FOR OUR COMMUNNITY. WELL IT START BY STANDING UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHT. AND STOP BEING A PART OF THE PROBLEM.

The only thing I don't understand is how both sides of the issue are so narrow-minded and juvenile. It seems that if their were to have been any progress it would have more than likely come out of compromise of both the police department and the sheriff's office.

As far as the name calling and childish threats, I would hope that sane adults would not resort to such measures. A true professional would handle them selves with dignity and integrity and not stoop to the level of his detractors. I had put in for the position of Chief of Police, but I am thankful now that through God's good grace I didn’t get the position and that I don't have to deal with such attitudes as those coming from throughout your small community.

You have around 1,500 people living an area approximately 45 square mile (this does not include the portion of the county controlled by the Fort Benning Military Reservation. What amazes me is that you cannot see that change is inevitable and that what was happening was something that has happened in most progressive and successful counties in this state. But I know that most people are afraid of change and that also explains why the sheriff has been in power for so long.

Given his budget the sheriff could provide three to four deputy coverage at all times for the county if some priorities and egos were changed. I just hope that there will be presence of mind within the new government to realize that things can be done different than they were ten, twenty or even thirty years ago. Fresh minds and ideas are what made this country and state great, but it because of the attitudes like those of some of your residents that enable areas to stagnate then wither and eventually fade away.
