ugly little town isn't it? Why don't they have the owners of these old buildings spruce them up a bit? Looks like an old Steven KIng movie set in that town! Looks very outdated, dirty and depressing!

Such an adorable little town! I was born in Cushing Oklahoma 48 years ago and it holds a special place in my heart. I've lived in California almost all my life but I'm thinking about moving back to my birth place. I have very loving family that live in Cushing Olkahoma and it would be nice to spend some quality time with them. I know that my husband Jonathan and daughter Natalie would just love it there.

Where's that vast revenue stream new businesses were supposed to bring in to revitalize the town? The publisher of the now defunct daily newspaper was going around shooting off her mouth, as long ago as November 2005, claiming her inside sources at the Chamber of Commerce had confided to her that Conoco-Phillips was going to start building a big new refinery in Cushing right away. Well, what happened to this supposed propserity that would have made the downtown look non-Zombielike?

That was shot down by congress http://www.vansopinion.com/modules.php...
Oil companies manipulate refinery status because more refined gasoline on the market would mean lower prices. No new refineries have been built in the U.S. in over 30 years. http://www.corpwatch.org/article.php...

It is a good retirement town, you need to be finacially secure as jobs have always been scarce. And while such things as a new senior citizen and high school complex have been built along with health care facilities (renovated hospital, new chiropractic/sports medicine and a new urgent care clinic) the crime rate is daunting...

Look beyond the band at the buildings. The downtown area is dead, dead, dead, and calling it cute, or pretending the wrecking ball isn't past due, serves no point except to let someone con the city commission into needlessly pouring more taxpayer dollars into something that's gone. Downtown is over. The past is gone. The present is here. Will you necrophiliacs let the corpse die?

I have lived here all my life and I go to see movies and plays at our downtown theaters. When I need guitar strings I just go downtown for them. I came on here to see photos of a young family member dancing in her first downtown parade. It's discouraging to read a bunch of crap posted by some jaded hacks. Let's hear your plans for a great downtown, or, I guess, a Wal-Mart, since you're done with the idea of downtown areas. Shouldn't you be posting on photos of strip malls and how you wish more Targets would open in your area?

You obviously wouldnt know a nice town if it came up and bit you. You cant judge cushing from the picture, you have to see it for yourself. I was born and raised there it is a very nice town with nice people.
