This bridge will do little if nothing to alleviate the traffic on the northern Outer Banks. If Rt. 12 is not widened from Southern Shores to Duck and the intersection at 158 and Rt. 12 dramatically improved, this bridge is a huge waste of money and will cause Aydlett to be detrimentally changed forever. KEEP THE BRIDGE OUT OF AYDLETT!!

The Engineer is full of it. If there was no deal with Environmentalists for the proposed Option B as the article states, then why remove Aydlett Road. If they truly cared about the flow of the Swamp, then culvert Aydlett Road right? Removing Aydlett road would allow the DOT to place their bridge road flat through the swamp saving LESS then 10% on the cost of the bridge. Personnally I don't believe a word the DOT/Turnpike Authority says. Build a bridge that is desperately needed not one that would be nice to have. Build the long bridge to Hatteras!!!

Duck will be a problem if the road is widened, four lanes of traffic funneled to two lanes = same problem different place.
