This is truly going to be a loss for all who made it the place for cakes, doughnuts etc... I have been going to Wilson's for all my cakes as they truly made the best.. not to mention the maple bars and chocolate eclairs! Where will I find my filled maple bars and my chocolate eclairs????
To the Wilson family you will truly be missed and a BIG THANK YOU for all the years of service.

I agree. My parents bought my birthday cakes there. As an adult, I have bought my birthday cakes and wedding cake there. I walk down most Saturdays and pick up a treat. I was VERY upset when I realized they would not reopen. It is a sad day for our community, as well as for my family. I will miss Wilson's more than the Wilson family can know. Thanks for the great memories!

Can't someone just buy the bakery, get the recipes from the family and reopen it? There is obviously lots of support and customers still. I find this very strange to just close up shop so quickly. They had the best cakes and could make anything you requested. They were amazing and I'm going to miss the pettifours.

When my children were babies we started a family tradition with the red and green Rum cookies from Wilson's Bakery, My children are now grown with children of their own and the tradition passed on to their children. This will be the first Christmas in more than 40 years that Wilson's Rum cookies will be missing. If anyone has a recipe I'd be very thankful if they could share it with me so I can surprise my family this holiday season. Sincerely, Carol

I am sorry to see them close as well. While I am sure the retirement was well deserved, I am also very surprised that they closed without warning. For all the customers that kept them in business all these years...this is the "Thank you"? No closing notice? No one last purchase? No chance for us to say "Thanks" in return?

It was a dream to work at the bakery and make everyone's cake fantasies come true. The Wilsons deserve this long waited retirement and even if someone else took over the bakery it would never be the same.
I like many others will miss the chocolate boiled cupcakes, sprinkle cookies, and all holiday cutouts.

Is the recipe for the Spanish Cookies out there? These cookies are a favorite memory from my childhood.

My family has known the Wilson family for generations. My grandfather was one of their original bakers when they first opened. This is sad. I guess when you can get cakes, bagels, donuts and pastries at every grocery store chain, even though Wilsons was way better, conveninence has won out the battle of the doughnuts. My favorite was their box of brownies and their custard filled pastries. Good Luck Rosalie and family!

Like many of us,our thanks to the Wilsons for all the years we have enjoyed their effort and pride in their bakery. I am hoping that since their doors have close that they might think on passing on their recipes in a Jewel Wilson recipe book. It would sure be sad to lose such a wonderful treasure of recipes that no one can find.

I hung out up the street as a 1968 to 1981 Monastery way. Walked to Keilys store - a road goes right through where the store was.

Those chocolate chip cookies - the flippin best- who's got that recipe.

Come on Wilson kids share the recipe.

aki's bakery on Meridian Ave. in San Jose (near the Midtown Safeway) has good cakes. parking may be tight here but sure beats a crappy costco cake. Also, it is wierd hoe wilsons closed. There is a piece to the puzzle missing, only the family knows why it closed like that, no place ever does that unless the county or something made them close. Possibly could of been some code violation or the health department shut them down. i have seen many places close and they dont just close like that, unless the health department got them, such as with the marie callenders on winchester, one day it was open, 4 days later it was closed. Turns out it was infested with moce and roaches, we found out from the manager at the now defunct marie callenders on Meridian Ave. that went down for housing.

I can't believe I'm crying ...I just found out today that Wilson's is closed! I feel like I have lost a part of my family ... Wilson's always gave each of us (six kids) a free cookie when my Mother brought us in. That was half a dozen cookies! The Maple bars were my favorite! I have lived in Colorado for 19 years now and I think of Wilson's often. I thought this year, I would call and see if they would ship their famous Rum Nepoleon Cake to me because I wanted to surprize my Mother and Father (now 75 & 86 years old) for Christmas with a very, very happy memory. I am so sad Wilson's closed. We will share the memory anyway, at our Christmas table.
