What happens to small children crossing streets when exiting the bus. Who is going to check behind,beside,or under the bus. children like to play. If my child were to get hurt . There would be a LAW SUIT for the state. Thanks

As a parent you are responsible for the safety of your child...Get your A** out of bed and drive little johnny to school and make sure he gets in safely just like the rest of us who don't have busing. What grounds would you have for a LAW SUIT with the State? Its a private company that contracts with the city or town to provide the service. There are cities like Detroit that are looking at the savings that can be had by privatizing the Fire dept. Not that that is the way to go but Fire service is the most costly item for most cities and towns.

Why don't you take away state employees overtime, such as sitting in thier DMV vehicles drinking coffee, instead of cutting valuable safeguards such as bus monitors who average a whopping 20 hours a week. Get a clue Mr. Carcieri. Drive around after a major snowstorm and see what taxpayers are actually paying for. Don't risk our children for your comfort.

It is time to move out of RI, it is the smallest state, but the most expensive one to live in...
