part One:

Western Maryland Health System has decided to make cuts in the employees ranks. They blame the present economy and Obamacare and the state of Maryland's cut backs in healthcare reimbursements as reasons why they aren't doing so well financially. And those are some reasons as to why the hospital has to tighten its own belt.
But there are other reasons that the hospital and Barry Ronan never mention as to why they are losing money and the employees suffer.
WMHS is not the best managed healthcare facility in Maryland or the area or the USA. and because of that the employees and patients suffer. That wont change unless change is made at the top. They continually bleed money.
When they built the new hospital is was built on the cheap. It started falling apart the day they moved in. They purchased at least $500,000.00 or more in equipment that they aren't using and never will Why? because they never asked the people who knew better. When they did they ignored their recommendations that would have saved money.
Because they used people within the hospital with little or no experience in building a hospital or manage the building of the new hospital. It was built sub-par. The folks did a great job to their best ability. But you see that wasn't the best way to do it. The folks lacked knowledge in dealing with a project like that. The should have out sourced. There are a few at the health system that have the knowledge and experience but they never were consulted they were ignored when they spoke up. You see these folks weren't in the "click"

Part 2:

WMHS is not a leader. They are a follower. They survive just barely because they are the only shop in town. Their own doctors send patience out of the area to Winchester and Ruby memorial and others because they want their patients to get the best care. You never will hear another hospital say, Lets do it like Western Maryland Health System. There is a reason for that. Employees of WMHS go to other hospitals too just to get better care. Management at WMHS forced one of the best Doctors out years ago that brought probably millions to the health system. And he took some of the finest workers in radiology, ultrasound , nuclear medicine and others with him.WMHS still have not recovered from this loss. They will deny it though.
I watch as Human resource cuts people. Not what's best for the health System but what they think is best . In fact it is wrong . They fire employees who have gave there heart, soul and a good bit of their lives to the hospital. All in the name of saving money! They keep less knowledgeable and trained people. They fire employees that save the hospital money on a daily and weekly basis. They fire employees that are a wealth of knowledge and a benefit to the hospital and its patients.. Others see fellow employees continually break policy and the rules and regulations and forgo safety, but continue to keep their job because they are friends or relatives of management or directors. They promote and create jobs not always on merit or best qualified but for their friends and buddies who are in their " Click". This also shows their lack of caring for the health system , its employees and especially the patients. Happy employees equals happy well cared for patients. This causes unhappy employees when they see the injustice and lack of fairness. They took 2 weeks of PTO off of all the employees. This was very hard for the employees to take that year. It took time from them that they would earned so some of them could not have surgery and then recuperate. So surgery was postponed till the next year. It took time away from others so one could not care for their sick loved ones . And it caused employees to come to work and perform their duties while sick just so they could spend a week on vacation with their family and loved ones.
It is always about take take take from the employees what does the health system give? The hospital cant give because it is on a downward spirral.
But you see, WMHS has never seemed to care for its employees. Though they say they do. They distrust their employees. They force people into the degrading procedure of urinating in a cup to prove one is not taking drugs. They claim it is for safety. They started using time clocks because a few people abused the system. So they distrust all in the name of money. Now they force one to violate personal freedom and liberties by requiring everyone employed at the hospital to get injected with a flu shot. In the name of better care. They don't care about the employees like they claim they do. They only use words no actions. The health System never shows any action to help the employees. They will never be rated "One of the best Hospitals to work in" in America, or Maryland.
I struggle working here many days. And will soon leave. As I watched many great workes leave the Health System. There still are some great workers there and great managers. But how great is a manager if they fail to support all people they know not just their department.
This attitude will not change unless change is made at the top and maybe through the ranks of the many VPs.
To me one thing sums this up. You see they came out with a saying. Don't complain about a problem unless you have solution for it. Really JG.........
This really says. KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT! We don't know what we are doing so quit pointing it out to us.

Why did I write this?
I recently talked to a person who was let go. He had a highest standard of integrity and morals. He respected all people and patients .He was one of the best workers in the department. Solved problems very quickly and saved the hospital much equipment downtime and money. So very sad to see the Health system work this way. you see others in the department don't and never will match him in his abilities, I will also be leaving because I can not work for a place that treats its employees like this.
