I sure wish I had read this story sooner!
I would have been MORE than glad to show up and help protect this faminly from this bunch of idiots.

Calling this cult "anti-gay protestors" is like calling Pol Pot an assertive leader.

I was at the procession on mainstreet. I went to school with Adam. I was so amazed at how our county came together. The people protesting were met with at least a hundred Patriot Guard Riders. My condolences go out to the family.

i can't even speak after reading such garbage. Again, organized religion at it's best. I really hope that there is a hell, and that they all meet up one day. Sick, just sick.

I was very Proud of the way the City and community held together over the cult coming into the community, and a big Thanks to the Patriot Riders.
Talking about a crazed web site the protesters has one cult site.
Can you beleave they are gonna riot at the Ky Downs next.

James, don't equate this bunch with organized religion, as that is an unjust charge. You may find one book of pornography that is highly offensive to you, but you wouldn't burn all books as a result; don't do the same thing with organized religion either, based upon nothing but these idiots. Remember, this "church" is not affiliated with ANYONE, and is composed mostly of just the pastors family.

And it's nice to see what happens wherever these scum show up. It doesn't seem to matter what side of the fence you are about gay people in general, or whether or not they protest at a soldier's funeral or a gay kids funeral--pretty much EVERYONE in the town rallys against them.

When the Catholic church condemns me for being gay, a choice I did not make, as well as just about every other form of organized religion, how should I feel? How would you feel? No disrespect sir, but my relationship is with God, not with a bunch of morons who have decided what they feel is right because it suits there needs.

The condemnation of sexual relations with a person of the same sex is not one made by the Catholic church, but one made by God in the Bible.

Don't blame a church for teaching exactly what God said; if you object to it, take it up with God.

Hogwash. It was made by PEOPLE, not God, in the Bible. This is from obscure Jewish law in Leviticus, most of which is ignored by even observant conservative Jews. Do YOU follow all Leviticus?

God has NOTHING to do with laws that have children being stoned to death.

God created gay people, the lie that it's some "sin" or "abomination" IS a problem with some churches, and they deserve to be called out on it just as those that exploited scripture, taken out of context, to defend slavery.

However, those using the mistakes of these fundementalist churches to criticize ALL "organized religion" need to realize that much leadership in the cause for equality and justice ALSO comes from within the church. Gene Robinson, John Shelby Spong, Robin Meyers, these are all ministers of God and part of organized religion every bit as much as bigots like the ones at Westboro.

By the way, I have family in this area and I'm a direct descenent of the original Dicksons for which this county is named, and these bigots are NOT welcome there. Get out and stay out!

I already took it up with God and God is fine with me being who He created. It's people like you that keep disagreeing with Him.

God did not create homosexuality any more than he created murder, theft, adultry, or any other sin. NO ONE is born a murderer, adulterer, thief, or homosexual; it is a choice. Everyone has temptations that are greater for them than others, however; some are tempted to violence, some are tempted to theft, and some are tempted to homosexuality. No one is FORCED into any of these sins, however.

And many years of searching have yet to produce the 'gay gene' that would serve to show otherwise.

God does, however, love everyone, as do I.
But he hates all sin, as do I.

God does forgive all sins, absolutely.
But he cannot forgive a sin that one continues to commit while insisting that it is NOT a sin.

Yes indeed; much of levitical law has been fulfilled with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. None of them, however, were described as an 'abomonation' as homosexuality is.

And it is more than just an obscure levitical prohibition.
Consider, for instance the sin that caused the destruction of Sodom:
Genesis 19:4-5 (KJV)
4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

And these:

Leviticus 18:22 (KJV)
22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 20:13 (KJV)
13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Romans 1:26-27 (KJV)
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

None of the dietary laws and minor restrictions got anywhere near this much emphasis.
