I thought here in America, rioting was a standard procedure for winning a ballgame.

If this fight happened following the Appalachian game, which was sometime back, why is it a news story at this point? Had this story been published the day following the incident the night before, that's news. Now it's just history.

Well at least WCU showed more fight in the university center than they did this year on the football field. What a joke for a sports program at the college level.

It wouldn't be published now if their cover-up hadn't sprung a leak. WCU is getting pretty good with the saying "what happens at WCU stays in WCU.

"The game was billed as a rivalry with WCU poised to upset ASU."What exactly does that little zinger have to do with the reporting of facts in this piece???? Campus police may have stated they didn't see a connection between the fight and the game, but clearly there was according to the less than subtle ACT; where editorializing is masked as reporting every day. At least now I know why my car was scratched near McCormick Field about fifteen summers ago. It had to be because the Tourists lost. Thank you Asheville Citizen for solving that mystery.

The fight occurred between football players and members of NPHC organizations which are historically African-American Greek-letter fraternities and sororities. These organizations are hardly ever seen on campus because their pledging and other activities are done underground.

When will people wise up and do away with sports after high school.
Let the dud's get a real job.
You would think by the time college rolls around they would have learned something.
Oh well I guess that is life.

It's amazing how this is just now being reported. This happened back in November and it was reported to WLOS and Asheville Citizen times a couple weeks ago.. another cover up by WCU? It came across the scanner as a RIOT... involving all blacks..

hmmm... who was it that was saying the the "dead bear found at WCU" was racial? The blacks.. and then this happens and it's covered up?

It had nothing to do with the football game..

That's interesting coming from someone who doesn't even know the correct form of "their" to use.

I just graduated from WCU, and I have never once used any form of drug. Period. I am currently in my first year of law school because I worked hard and stayed away from situations that provoke this kind of behavior. At my time at WCU I was surrounded by many fine students that were not "dope heads" and felt WCU was a very nurturing environment. You always have some students that are not there to learn and their actions continue to plague WCU with bad press. It's unfortunate that Western grads must suffer because of the actions of a few.

You're absolutely right, it's the few bad ones that spoil it for everyone. I know for a fact that WCU has some excellent programs, and excellent students. Congrats on your graduation, and best of luck in law school. You sound like a smart guy who knows what he wants and how to get it.

I was believing you until the "law school" came up.
