And the obvious question is: Why didn't a deputy STAY at the hospital with the injured suspect until he was released?

And the second question is, why is this being reported on Nov. 25? It happened in mid-October!

this sounds bad indeed a home invasion suspect left at the hospital with no deputy on guard to be treated. that is bad enough. what is worse is that whoever shot this scumbag needs to learn to aim straight and true. done wound shoot to kill if this scumbag could have gotten an advantage on the homeowner, who knows what would have happened. always shoot to kill then the suspect would not be in the hospital wounded able to escape because of the stupidity of the law enforcement agency involved.

this happened in october? our local media (ch 13, ACT, etc) are so afraid of scaring off tourists, we can't even be told what's really going on as it happens. our area has become way too dependant on tourism.

Folks, this is what happens with improper firearms training. The correct action would of been 2 in the chest and 1 to the head, both suspects.

Well one can guess that Wellington MHP is not an "unarmed victim zone".

Ever stop to think maybe he wasn't charged until after he was released?

In NC medical care providers are required to report any gunshot victim, seeking medical care, to law enforcement. However they have no authority to hold the person until officers arrive. but you would think that Docs could be a bit slower in patching him up and leo could respond a bit quicker to investigate. But even if all of that had taken place they still may not have known that he was a suspect.

Between the nipples...... .380 between the nipples would have dropped his butt. 9MM or .357 would have been better. Take no prisioners when you're the victim of a home invasion. Make sure the 'cleanup' boys...(law)...takes 'em out in body bags.
