Lewisburg needs a complete overhaul of the system. The good ole boys ran it done. Now all they have is Yankees to try to suck dry. Locals don't support businesses, they just depend on family members to work the system for them.
Everyone is related to everyone else here. No wonder we have so many dumb kids in Lewisburg.
I don't mean to sound mean, just making a real point. A lot of them have that look. The look of mental problems. They need new blood.
Look how many are going out of business here. Go store to store and ask for yourself. You will hear some horror stories about this place. it is scary.
I wish this was the city I read about posted by the city. Trickery got us here, smartness and common sense will get us out.
I agree. There are some good people here. They just shake their heads about the others. The city taxes you like there is something worth living here for.

The City taxes could be lowered if waste and mismanagement was cut out.
Like that speck building and plants getting tax breaks to hire then no one checks too see just how many got hired.
The industrial board has cost this town more, by their suggestions, of giving away tax breaks and buying and selling property.
And helping secure Low interest loans for friends and connections.
When next election comes up you wait and see very few of the City Council will run again.
Because they know just what a mess they have caused.

Hi Friend,
Your heart is always in the right place. Last month's medical bills, doctor, and drugs was a whopper over #330.00. Tightening as best as we can and still be honorable in paying our way is a blessing. God doesn't give either of us more than we can handle. Amen. May you have good health, my friend. When I am able, I will be back on. These forums keep our county/city/ community active. Blessings, my friend.
My husband thanks you, too. Love, GSGM

Should Friend run for mayor?
He's got some good thoughts.
I don't think anyone could worry,
That his influence could be bought.
He'd stand for peace and justice,
The little man he would praise.
He'd keep his friends happy ,
For all the taxes he'd never raise.
Friend, hope you liked my little tribute.

Gee I decided Lewisburg needs nothing
It has got nothing now
And it sure can’t afford any more!!!!!!!!!!
I have never seen a town that had so little
And wanted so much
And be completely out of touch
Who builds and buys
Right before the Peoples eyes
When the economy is slowing.
And gas prices are soaring
On Speculation and a hunch
It won’t cause a budget crunch

Lewisburg needs to humble itself and realize it is a city in trouble and it can not drain the few who work hard through taxes. Running a business in Lewisburg is hard. The town does not or will not even support itself. We work hard while the remaining folks who are mostly drunks, drug addicts and tobacco users sit around and drag us down. We are tired of taking care of them. Lewisburg needs a complete makeover. And we have enough hair places so please, no more. That goes along with the beer and tobacco places. I am done giving in Lewisburg. I never seen so many beggers in my entire life. Can I beg at a street corner too? When I see someone collecting for our school's honor students (beside trips to mexico to party) I may give.
If you have kids in sports and you want to help them make it to the big leagues or live your life through them, you should foot the bill. If you can not afford it, maybe you should of paid attention during your school years, or kept yourself out of bad side of the law. Then maybe you could afford to do what you want to do in life and not depend on anyone else. But no, you were too busy worrying about sports in your day.(does that sound like the kids today?)

At the end of this all, Lewisburg is in trouble and needs a transfusion of blood. Less muscle and more smarts. That is what you get when the same people life here forever.

Green Tagger....I agree with the sports issue. If you can not afford for your child's portion of a trip, then don't participate in the travel ball. I would like to be able to go in and out of Walmart without being asked to give and even drive Sonic without a sign being waved at me for a car wash for the team to go to FL on a tournament...Goodness, most of the ones on the team have more money than the people they are asking money from...Why collect money to send thge child when the entire family usually goes anyway? Sounds like vacation to me....and they do it every year...same kids, same destination....some of us don't take vacations away from home and why should we be asked to help send your child?

I agree. This town is always begging for something. I would give the shirt off my back to someone that needed it. But if you want your child to play sports you should pay for it. I give to the people in need since our fine city will not help the needy, but they don't mind raiseing taxes wheel tax etc when they get in a bind. Let me get off my soap box before I say something I should not. It just pisses me off.

Your point was proven this morning. What looked to be a well to do soccer mom out standing on the yellow line collecting to go to Florida. Then you have the radio station pumping for money.
Now my opinion:

The coach (dad) could at least prepped the kids for radio. They displayed what is the norm here..ask someone a question and you get a grunt above a stare. Thankful for the Dad he spoke for his 2 sons. Make our county proud in Florida against Alabama was the closing remarks.

In the past. When our kids did something we paid for it. Grant it, when we were asked to give time for fund raisers, we gave money and were very generious. Our time was important to us.

We did not take life out of perspective. We did not tell our kids they will make the big leauges. We did not strive to make baseball 12 months long, we stressed a good education.

We are not from here and we know how bad off the school system is in Marshall County. My kids thought the schools were a joke here.

Lewisburg only can survive on begging. I never even had my children bother people with fund raisers, we just bought ourselves. Lewisburg is the laughing stock of the county and state.
If you want your kid to go on with sports, dont look for us for help. Our kids need to apply themselves to education verses sports. What we need is a mayor who is not from the area to put a stop to all this nonsense we read about in Lewisburg. You can claim the info is not true but 90% of it is fact, they just dont want to admit it.

I went to the Lewisburg town public meeting and thought it was a joke. I am not from the area and picked Lewisburg as our home. As a single mother this is a hard place to raise children.
Back to the meeting. Did anyone notice they had a police officer hid in the hallway and even swapped them out. Did they sense problems?
2 of the council members were a total waste of oxegyn and the major tried to hide his emotions but someone like me saw right through him.
One of the council members was terrible at hiding his inner thoughts. It was a staged meeting using other places who may or may not be right as examples.
They even used the "county's" operations as an example. Who saying the county is right? Remember, we are in good old boy country and having problems.

What does Lewisburg need?

Good eating places
Less beer/tobbacco stores
More open minded locals
Less good ol'boys/girls
Better teachers and those who understand out of town folks
More good food places on the square
Traffic lights that are not on timers after busy hours
More events for the city. I do appreciate what they do, do.
Less sports and pageant minded folks and let's cheer a bit more for our honor students.
Less beggers...stole that one.
