I knew this young man very well. I watched him grow from a toddles to the full flower of manhood. Joey was a good kid; as sincere, polite and hardworking as they come. I know in my heart he was destined for some future greatness, and it's sad to see such a young and promising life come to such an abrupt and tragic end.

I hate to reduce Joe's death to a cautionary tale, but there is inarguably a life lesson to be learned from this tragic turn of events. Young men tend to deny their mortality. Their mantra seems to be "It can't happen to me." But it can, and it does. Moreover, when a death occurs, it leaves a terrible void in the lives of those left behind.

I was the one who found your friend and intially called the police about the speeding going on down Lake Dr. I am struggling with why didn't I call 10 minutes earlier, this all could have been avoided. I will never forget the fear and panic I felt running to him knowing what happened. As I stood over him I could only think; this boy is some mothers baby. My heart just breaks for his family, for all his loved ones and for the future he no longer has.

We have all been there and done that, no one is innocent of making stupid choices. Unfortunatly some end up serving as the example as to why we shouldn't. My heart goes out to everyone he touched in this life! So sad!!!!

Kindra, I live right there, my roommate and I heard the speeding too and when we saw all of the cop cars a few minutes later, we knew something must have happened and I thought the same thing, that that was someones child.:( Now I look out my window and constantly see his friends/family laying flowers...my thoughts go out to his family and friends.
