Shame on the police for allowing this to happen. He violated a restraining order and instead of being arrested and locked up they give him a date to appear in court. What the hell is good about a restraining order if the consequences of violation is a slap on the wrist. I blame our justice system for this sad and preventable tragedy.

Yeppppppppppppp !!! Exactly !!!! A restraining order is just a piece of paper, so that our lovley over paid cops dont have to don anything more with an issue.
This is SICK, that poor lady Rest her Soul, had NO PROTECTION from our Justice System , and bless her family for having to go through somthing so discusting.
My god Police Men & Women,,,,, do your damn job thats what you took Oath to do is protect us, but im one of the 1st people to get pulled over if im doing 62 in a 55 MPH Zone..........

It sounds like he was the better citizen, as testified by the comments from numerous neighbors, and she was the problem, the thorn in everyone's side. According to the neighbors, she was provoking him all the time, and he felt railroaded by the system. So he took matters into his own hands.
Sounds like the woman sealed her own fate.
From the article
"(neighbor) Ms. Plants said Mrs. Babcock was a "confrontational" woman who "was always yelling at people about everything." Ms. Plants said Mrs. Babcock yelled at children playing in the woods across the road from her property, and she yelled at children walking on the ice on the lake in front of her property in the wintertime.
Ms. Plants said Mrs. Babcock would often try and provoke Jerge into violating the order.
"Mrs. Babcock had her camera out all the time. She was always trying to get him on something," Ms. Plants said."

Did you miss the part about him physically assaulting her husband? Taking pictures, bitching at kids and provoking an argument with a neighbor should have led to a privacy fence. Not gunshots to the head. We all have dealt with or know of someone who had to deal with a difficult neighbor. Do they have the right to shoot theirs? She was no different and did not deserve to die. Jerge should have been locked up as soon as he violated the restraining order. Two people and a dog would still be alive today if the police did their job correctly.
