High gas prices greet Labor Day travelers

jumped 14 cents a gallon yesterday, 3.55 to 3.69, little price gougers.

Look for it to jump another 15 cents over the next few days. They'll use hurricane Isaac and the Venezuelan refinery fire as excuses. And once it ratchets up to 3.84, it'll stay pretty much there even after everything settles back down. Mofo's.

No, and why would they want to. They get about $0.38 per gallon in taxes (state and federal). And then some counties charge on top of that. And then there are inspection fees etc. Nice way to make revenue. If anything, they would want to encourage the purchase of gasoline.

The high price of gasoline is driven by the speculators, not the oil companies. Of course they are not doing anything to help either.
