For so many years the Code Talkers were kept secret, in case the Cold War got HOT I guess. We owe them such a great debt for the work they did in WWII. They saved THOUSANDS of Allied lives. Maybe they even saved my father's life, I know he was so proud to have them in his command. Thank you, all of you for all you did during the war and I am so glad you are finally being recognized for all you did.

There is a DVD by the History Channel about the Navaho Code Talkers that is a few years old. The program played on the History Channel included interviews with Navaho Veterans, their families and tribal elders. As usual a lot of journalists have no idea about American History.

My grandfather served in the US Navy in WWII. He was briefly on the USS Enterprise but served mostly on a naval destroyer in the South Pacific. We are from a southern branch of the Navajos. My grandfather could understand the code talkers. His brother was a US Marine at Iwo Jima. My grandfather said he met two code talkers on a ship before arriving to New Guinea. The coe talkers were concerned about the danger of their missions in the Japanese tunnel network. They were using dogs to hunt them out. But the two were killed in New Guinea. My grandfather knew many Navajos from the Four Corners area. We are from Central Arizona. I am going back to visit my grandfather next week. The WWII Veterans are passing away very quickly now that most are in their 80s and in poor health. I am going to record some family history of his experience with videos. The family needs to retain his experience from WWII before he is gone.

All they did was to speak in their native language.

Big deal. What was so hard about that?

No. They spoke in CODE in their native language, a code that was never broken.

Daily Horoscope for December 12

Sagittarius

You're much more voluble and articulate today, so you might want to have another go at telling someone what's bugging you at the moment. However, don't get so carried away that you end up dominating the conversation, especially if it's obvious that this person also has things that they need to talk about. Give them a chance to have their say.
