I hope they take her kids away. Rum in the diaper bag? Driving drunk with only ONE kid in a safety seat? Pot in the car? I'm all for legalization, but come ON, you don't drive if you're high, definitley not if your drunk, and you need some serious jail time if you do it with your kids in the car. She's d&^n lucky she didn't kill someone, or get into an accident and seriously injure her children.
She doesn't deserve to be a parent, and I'm sure she has much more going on. I'd hate to see what her house/fridge look like.
Well said. I think people need to realize that personal responsibility is the key, and that intoxicating substances, like firearms for example, require people to misuse them to make them "dangerous." The vast majority of people do not drive drunk or high, and we should not allow people, like this young woman, to allow a zero tolerance policy to prevail,-EXCEPT when it comes to impaired driving. There is NO excuse for it. Show respect for your fellow humans, and especially for your own kids for Pete's sake, and don't drive impaired!

Many of us are unable to have children. People like this who can enrage me. I hope she is ashamed of her actions. I also hope her kids are not given back to her until she has had some substantial time in treatment and proving she is fit to raise them.

So idiots like you can post comments and then get others to comment on everyone's stupid comments...
Okay, you apparently didn't read the part about her having CHILDREN in the car. Based on your attitude you must be yet another who chooses to drive drunk.

I predict that you will find this woman has been or is being abused. Where is the father of these kids? She needs help and needs it soon.
How absurd and ridiculous! She and she alone is responsible for her decision to behave so recklessly and put her children in imminent danger. She needs to take her medicine. Quit making lame excuses for her.

The Pioneer Press seems to have a little double standard on who they'll post pictures of.
Why is that?
Really? Would you rather see all black people or other minorities displayed? I think it's good that a white person got shown.

I can't help but look at the picture of this young woman and see a scared, confused person. Cannot condone her behavior, but she needs HELP. As things get worse and worse economically, I think we are going to see more and more odd stories like this by desperate, depressed, financially-strapped people. Too bad she had to hit this bottom.

This is why alcoholism is called a "disease." People no longer use reason or logic when they have a problem. That does not remove the need for personal accountability. To say that more reasonable thoughts should be going through her mind is to say she is capable of doing so,-which she clearly is not. Mental illness is often involved with chemical abuse. Not sure what the right punishment is here. Is she beyond help?

Cause she is white, so they show her.
And because she is white you all talk about how she needs "treatment" and has "issues" if this was a minority you would have already called for prison. Talk about double standards!

We all didn't call for treatment and her race has nothing to do with it. Many of us said lock her up and take her kids away. Many of us believe in personal responsibilty.

Nobody forced her to drink, drive drunk, try to evade police, have an unrestrained 2 or 4 year old in the car, have an open bottle in the diaper bag, have a bag of pot in possesion, all before 5:00 on a Thursday.

Her race has nothing to do with it. Poor choices have everything to do with it. Try playing the race card elsewhere. It's worn out here.

I'm guessing she isn't working anywhere now! What a loser...take the kids and put them with adoptive parents, and they might have a chance to succeed. I doubt they have much chance with this moron.
She's an alcoholic abd drug abuser.
She does them because at this stage she can't NOT do them.

Yes, she has problems.
Yes, she needs help for those problems.
No, that doesn't excuse her actions, or mean that treatment is all she needs.

She needs jail time. She needs her kids removed. The article lists the rum in the effin' DIAPER BAG! And weed in the car. WITH HER INNOCENT CHILDREN RIDING ALONG WITHOUT SEATBELTS. And then it lists a litany of criminal offences, mostly driving-related, including assaulting a peace officer (prolly a cop, maybe a meter maid or something like that).

*That* is what needs to be addressed. The recurring criminal behaviour that endangers the kids. Treatment may be the way to address it, but she needs consequences and punishment, such as taking away her kids and sending her to jail.

Daily Horoscope for January 3

Aries

There is a strong focus on career and parental matters today. You need to be cautious regarding your dealings with someone in authority - things may not be what they seem. This is also a good day to spend time with your partner. Communication in general should prove to be smoother sailing than usual so this would be an opportune time to discuss delicate matters with others. Good news in the evening is indicated.
