I don't have the same feelings of hope like some of you do, for several
reasons. 1. I went to Westmar after Waldorf, and the scenarios are almost identical. Westmar is now a pile of bricks. 2. Did they hand out copies of Waldorf's financial records at this meeting? Do we really know what happened? 3. Why is there only one option? It does not sound like they tried very hard to find a variety of solutions. 4. Why were alumni only contacted for money, and not for ideas? 5. Did Waldorf already switch to Linux and Open Source Software? That could save them a million dollars. 6. Why are they selling out to a school that appears to be inferior? 7. Why doesn't Waldorf just start their own online school? Plug in a Moodle server (more free software) and you are in business. 8. Are they just asking us to trust them because they are associated with the church, so therefor they must be Christian? I don't think Jesus asked us to follow religious dudes without question. Personally - I am so sad about this because I had hoped my seven year old and nine year old could go to Waldorf!! |

I am a current Waldorf student, and have attended many a meeting held on campus during the past academic year (o8-o9) concerning the relations of Waldorf and Columbia Southern University. From what I'm hearing, this sounds like a good thing. I'm hoping what they are saying will happen to Waldorf will happen. CSU will be able to do much more advertising all throughout the United States, something that Waldorf does not have the capacity to do. We are opening 5 new majors come fall of 2oo9. CSU is putting in millions to the Luise V. Hanson Library, as well as starting a JV men's basketball and cross country team. To me, these all seem like good changes. I'm excited for Waldorf's future and am glad to be a part of such a great college.
