Mom_n_Pop wrote: I'd like to send a thanks to the owners & waitresses at Sonic & the Oriental Rest. both. At one time or another in my life I've been an owner, cook, waitress in several large cities & here in Sav. That said there are a large percentage of people that cannot be pleased no matter what you do for them. Heck you could cut up their meat and hand feed them, wipe their greasy mouths & still not get a tip. Luckily those are few & far between or no one could make a living. One of my neighbors works at Sonic & we always tip her very generously since we know her circumstances & she is always smiling! Our waitresses at the Oriental place (sorry forgot the name) are always on top of things, friendly, smiling & keep us wanting for nothing. Now what more could you ask for? For anyone who thinks it's easy to be a waitress let me tell you a thing or two. I've been puked on by a drunk man who didn't even apologize nor did his skank date say crap about it. Just grabbed their food & left..no tip! I've had my rear pinched so many times it bruised, had wives & girlfriends get mad at ME because their oversexed date flirted with me or oogled my body. And there always the customers who think it's funny to leave a penny or two on the table of filth they left behind. For those with no idea where your ashes go...it is NOT IN YOUR PLATE!!!! It sounds like a hard job when you add in all the bad and nasty things that happen to your server. I wonder if any of the servers mentioned here have any idea who the ones are on here complaining? If any do I'd like to hear their side of customers actions from the flip side of the stories told here. ANYONE?

A Fast food place with daily drinks from 2-4?? Both my son's tried to get hired at this one in Savannah, both were told four months apart, Males are not hired here. The owner says it causes a distraction in the work enviroment. So I have visited on a few days and noticed for a fact no males were working. I'm sure the owners family are on the pay-roll just to say: they do have male employees> I guess It's alright In Savannah being this has been going on for some time for any buisness in to Savannah Tn> So should it be ok for all the employers in Savannah not to hire someone due to skin color, or which god they worship, or par-take in a relationship with the same gender. Even better what if all employers from this day forward only hire males because we know women should be at home barefoot/pregnant. See how bad all this sounds, But yet Savannah allows this. Shame on this town, for allowing this to happen in 2009, and supporting a place which acts in this manner. Yes being it's a free world I do not visit this place. Why! it is wrong. I feel bad for the employees, understanding this is no fault made nor cause by them. I just consider this another black eye for this community. Have a great day.

It is neve rgood for a company to get involved with nepotism because it certainly is a distraction. As for the "same-gender" relationships, it is disgusting and lacking in morals. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and a while back He said not to do that! Things of this nature, along with many other blatant sins is why America and the entire world is in the mess it is in. You are all in my prayers. I've never seen a guy working in any Sonic or Drive-In type business, anywhere - not just Savannah. I never thought it was a big deal. I mean, how many mechanic shops around town have female mechanics? Some jobs are more suited for men and some jobs are more suited for women. I don't see the big deal.

I think I know why they won't hire young men at Sonic. It's because the young women that work there tend to draw in young men as customers.
Can you imagine the scuffles breaking out in the parking lot? The "Hey that's my girl whose behind you're staring at!" type of thing?
Management may be afraid some boys may not get any work done and if a customer got injured by a male employee defending his girlfriend's honor, what a problem that would cause! An indoor restaurant has some control over a situation, but the great outdoors?

In my travels & experience here's what I've been told in regard to hiring young men VS young women. Both being equally qualified for the job always hire the woman & she will bring in more customers since it's usually the man paying & driving to the establishment. Yeah...I know....LOL People will react more kindly to a female voice than a male. Only in the sales of used cars is the opposite true. Ladies get more tips unless it's a gay business where the opposite is true. I once applied to a hometown type rest. in a major city when I was in my 20's & the owner told me to come back after I had my braces removed & to lose 10 lbs. I laughed in her face, went next door & got a better job! There is still a double standard when it comes to who serves our food at fast food places. While you may have a male cook, manager or janitor, the majority of time it's a woman who will be your cashier, car hop or server. It's mostly single mothers, high school kids or college students who are just trying to make ends meet in these lowly jobs until something better comes along or they can finish school and get a decent paying job. TIP well folks. They WILL remember YOU even if you don't remember THEM.

When I worked delivering food and occasionally cooking for a restaurant in Florida I made great money. The man that owned the place hired me when I walked in, not even looking for a job. As he made me a sandwich we talked and he offered me a job working there. I wasn't looking for restaurant work, but gave it a try. He was kind and patient, treated me like one of his own children, who also worked there. He taught me along with his other employees and his kids about responsibility, to be a good employee. The female employees did make better tips than the male employees. He later told me he hired me because I was blonde and cute. I worked seasonally for him for years till I moved up here to Tennessee.

People, please give her the same respect that she would give you. Mollie is not a dear friend of anyone...she is a user of all. Big Dummy ..lol well to me have you tried to manage around 20 teenage girls to keep them focused and deliver the food and make the orders and everything else. So lets see Management says lets throw in 2 horny boys(and don't say they ain't every boy is just a fact of life) ok so i have 20 girls who love to talk and have so many issues like all girls do and now i have these two guys working here that will distract them even more. Common sense says Not....To me it makes sense. And its less of headache. They have enough to worry about. There are so many other businesses that your sons could work. I personally wouldn't want to throw my son in there with 20 teenage girls. You know its not the case of the them being sexist nor am I. I own a business. And i tell you depending on certain jobs a boy or girl has to be determined. common sense for my business. I don't think Hooters would hire guys either to be waitresses but would you get mad over that?? Big Dummy wrote: A Fast food place with daily drinks from 2-4??
