I could, doubtfully, be the next democratic candidate... the possibilities are there.

stop being so paranoid huck
I admit that Chuck seems paranoid, but calling one paranoid or a conspiracy nut is an equally way of dismissing someone that is asking rational questions. There are a lot of holes in a lot of world changing events on both sides of the fence.

The 2nd has been coopted for the purpose of cowboys to hoard guns. The 2nd was never intended to play to the egos of insecure cowboys using personal attacks on citizens as an excuse to bear arms. Its sole intent was to protect the population from a tyrannical government, not your next door neighbor, and thats all you hear from cowboys, personal saftey. Meanwhile congress has stripped us of most of our rights and the cowboys don't say boo. Lets you know where their priorties are, up their collective wazoos.
The benefit from such possession is that you can protect yourselves in the face of danger.

"police do not have a duty to provide police services to individuals, even if a dispatcher promises help to be on the way, except when police develop a special duty to particular individuals."

The federal courts have up help every suit stating that police are for the protection of society, not individuals. You are equally eager to point out that many police would wet their depends having to deal with real crime instead of rousting a pot smoker on the mall. I believe you even said once that they would "wait long enough to ensure the shooting was done to assess the scene." A police officer is under no obligation to respond to a crime in progress. What I tell my wife is, hole up, lock the door, let them take what they will, but if they enter the room you're in... drywall is cheap, you're not.

You said most of our rights and you come up with one on the list and I am sure you are referring to Gitmo. If most of our rights have been stripped please clue me in on the rest of the list.

<quoted text>I can agree with you about the second amendment, and the spirit there of. I won't agree with you if you think a loaded AR-15's place is a Kroger. I also won't agree with you about the Fourth Branch of the government. We have a representational democracy that is a republic, which means "we the people" give the power to be governed. The phrase is, "Consent of the governed." We are the government, and we are a republic to prevent the abuses of the majority upon the minority.
"That elections of members to serve as representatives of the people, in assembly, ought to be free; and that all men, having sufficient evidence of permanent common interest with, the attachment to, the community, have the right of suffrage, and cannot be taxed or deprived of their property for publick uses without their own consent, or that of their representatives so elected, nor bound by any law to which they have not, in like manner, assented, for the public good"
~John Locke
while I am an avid supporter of my second amendment rights as well as support others in theirs as for the individual going into Kroger with a rifle he is a fool not helping his cause! If he just open carried a hand gun even the far left would have accepted it. as far as the rest of your argument you have done some thinking on it which is far more than some our elected officials. so what happens when they really screw things up?

With a .32 semi-auto your gonna need to shootem multiple times. Just be sure to gather your shell casings so they can't tell the last three shots were when the perp was already down.

Collect your casings and salt the scene by making sure they are at least more than a couple feet from the body.

Better yet carry a revolver and retain your shells.

These criminals need to understand the next time they try their shenanigans might well be the last.

I don't have an issue with taking out terrorists, home-grown American, or not.
It's the murky decision making whether to strike, sloppy collateral damage of innocents and inability to identify exactly who we killed that's the problem.
Imagine yourself a villager in Pakistan, or wherever, and a bomb from the sky killed your (innocent) relative(s).
Who ya gonna hate?

The biggest argument pro gun people have is the right to protect ones self from a bad guy. But what do we do about that? we don't ask the police to step up, the courts aren't consistent, the rate of recidivism for career criminals is over 70%. So we as citizens are left to protect ourselves from common thuggery. Seems like we should be asking our civic leaders to step on toes and address the crime problem. I just don't see how the average person can enjoy his surroundings when he asked to consider whether or not he should be armed all the time, that not a life, thats a culture of fear with a premise to survive, not grow. Drones? what better way to make enemies abroad. Again, we have more to fear from the average local crook than we do from some Islamist idiot half way around the world.

What we should fear is the loss of liberty at home being justified by those who are afraid by the local crooks and by the radical Islamist fundy abroad.
