A Charlottesville man convicted of swindling as many as 30 investors out of more than $5 million will serve seven years in Federal prison.

He was only doing what he had been taught about free enterprise and the sucker-born-every-minute method of financial planning. Its the American way. He was just a small business owner trying to afford healthcare for his employees. Those who lost money were only unwise investors who did not perform due diligence. Its not his fault that he had no product and was merely a gullibility speculator. What are we regulation happy - Socialists that don't like free enterprise? How's a guy supposed to get rich around here anyway? He he he he he haw!

Something seem terribly wrong with the justice system in this area. Swindlers, female sex offenders, to name a recent few receive light sentences depiste the harm they have done. Yet others, notably drug offenders, get ( and probably deserve) harsher sentences.

Justice is no longer blind.

With him doing that, he now owes my family thousands of dollars that if we get it back, it will keep us from loosing our business

Sorry, no gee wiz thats too bad, here, Ole Bernie Madeoff swindled billions out of people, why, one of the seven deadly sins. One of if not the first rule of investing, if you can't afford to loose the money you want to invest, don't. I've watched family members and acquaintances loose piles of bucks because of market downturns, but in those cases all were able to absorb the loss. A fool and his money are soon parted.

I can't believe he got such a light sentence. He stole 5.3 million from people, it's unbelievable. He destroyed these people's lives.

There's a HUGE difference in a market downturn and someone stealing their investors' money.

Will his family have to sell their home? If not, why not?. They are the ones that any reasonable person would have to feel sorry for. No colusion from the wife. No problem for her. But they do not need to continue to live in "any style" that they have become acustomed to.
