Great. Make your argument about 'bureaucracy' or 'waste/fraud/abuse' or 'bloated government'. Perfectly valid, without resorting to the 'entitlements and riding the backs' code. It's just as transparent as the old 'welfare mothers driving Cadillacs' stuff. Forget the straw man argument and go to the BS spending that we should all be fighting.
Bureaucracy is just the tip of the ice berg. Here's just one example:~70% of inner city births are illegitimate. Why are those people entitled to have their children paid for by the rest of us? God forbid they'd be responsible and wait to have kids until they can pay for them like the rest of us! Quite frankly, a lot of us are sick of paying into a broken system that rewards irresponsibility and punishes achievement.

What about the stores charging the 6% already when the increase isn't supposed to be going into effect until 1/3....Hmmmmm....who is getting that money. What about returning an item you received for xmas after the 3rd? Do you realize that you will now have to by the additional 1% tax on your gift??? SCAM!!! Gotta love the money grabbing Democrats!!!! Please let me bend over a little further.

Um, not so much. Births to teenagers (the group most likely to require taxpayer assistance and least likely to be able to self-support) declined 41% in Maryland from 1991-2005, from 54.1 per thousand births to 31.8 per thousand. The steepest decline was in non-Hispanic black teenagers. Among all births, those to unmarried mothers has trended upward nationally in recent years, mostly to women in their 20s, in every state except LA, VT, and CO. Is the rate among Hispanic and non-Hispanic black women higher? Yes. Is it anywhere approaching 70%? No. But nearly a quarter of what you call "illegitimate" births are to white women who are, in fact, not in "inner city" areas. We'll just assume that the tooth fairy supports them, since I'm sure that they're nice, responsible girls who slipped up on their chastity pledge.

Oops. Gadi Dechter called it a 20% tax increase! The official position of the Sun rag is "it's only a penny". Guess somebody will be looking for a new job.

Shart,(appropriate name, by the way) "it's a penny" for EVERY DOLLAR THAT YOU SPEND! It's a 20% higher tax than you had to pay last week.

Since it's only a penny, why don't you send me a penny for every dollar that I spend this year? Wait, why are you crying, it's only a penny. Right?

it's 20% of a frickin nickel, jesus how poor are some of you people?
It's not the 20% increase that most of us are outraged about. It's the underhanded way that it was enacted, so as to bypass public scrutiny that reeks.

Sorry, but it's well documented that the national average illegitimacy rate for black parents is around 70%, and much, much higher for those who live in the inner city. No other race group even comes close -- search and see.

Perhaps you'd also characterize O'Malley's support for paying college tuition for children of illegal immigrants as a "non-entitlement" too.

You can throw different statistics around all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that many people in MD feel that paying for others' irresponsibility is just wrong. On top of all of the other retarded spending the "representatives" in Annapolis are doing, entitlements are like pouring gasoline on a bonfire.

20% increase passed in the middle of the night...typical from the socialist crooks in Annapolis.

As long as Mike Miller is running the show, this state will be fighting with Louisiana as the most corrupt in the nation.

It's only fair that we should win! That way the most violent city (B'more) can be in the most corrupt state. Makes one proud, doesn't it?

hmmm,, at any rate, the majority of the tax increase is going to be spent in baltimore city and pg county on the negro populations.

anyone notice how its only the leaches from baltimore city and PG county that take issue with the tax hikes?
you think that could be due to the fact that the high colored areas are the only ones to gain from it? and the majority non colored areas are being forced to pay for them?

by the way, some of you need to understand that its not just a 20% consumption tax increase, there is also a business tax increase that will show in product prices, registration fees etc...
Cigarette taxes

Do you mean it's the leaches that DON'T take issue with the tax hike? I'm not a leach and I'm incensed that I have to pay more so that they can get more handouts!
