I want to hear from all you same people crying about the parent who left the gun where a 14 year old found it. I propose all wooden skewers be registered, and only for sale to adults who pass extensive background checks. Same with lighters since a kid also burned himself with one. We must child proof your world because your kids are a generation of defective commom senseless undisciplined spazzes.

What a terrible ending to a seemingly fun family outing. Awful...

I am so glad that my parents warned be about shape things and not to run with them and to be careful with them when I was young; but then came the Army and they gave be a nice long and accurate rifle with a bayonet on the end and then came the Democrats fiasco in Vietnam. Oh well.

I hope the little fella will recover and be o.k. Kids can bounch back from these stupid mistakes. My parents also told me not to play with my food.

Me thinks this child, unfortnuately, saw a sword swallowing show.... and tried to do the same with the steak on a stake but missed his mouth and got his eye.
Guess no more steak on a stake at the festival....
or if they do... the stake might have a warning label.
CAUTION: Use of this stake other then its intened purpose, to hold meat while cooking and eating, is prohibited. Do not place stake in eyes, mouth, ears. This is not a sex toy and must be kept away from the vagina and anus.
LOL don't forget it will be a punishable Federal law! And also it must be kept away from the penis.

I'm always amazed when I come on this board. Amazed and saddened.

It's not unusual for kids to do idiotic things. This boy is after all just 10yr. Attempt to show him and his family some compassion.

Who know what he was trying to do or if it was simply an accident. For that matter he could've seen something similar on one of those 'real tv' shows and tried to mimic it.

I hope he's okay and that the eye was salvaged with no sign of blindness.

Yeah, I am always so amazed that these bloggers have so little information that they start making up *&^%. Get real and have respect. We don't know how this happened. It was a simple accident.

I agree, however it is doubtful that the event will end with a wiser child and a teary eyed mom... Instead, that teary eyed mom WON'T call it a simple accident, she'll call it negligence on behalf of the Renfest and sue for damages. Next thing you know, the Renfest will ban all steaks on a stick, turkey legs, or whatever else for fear of future suits.

Nik, you don't know that. You're just a pessimistic idiot. Obviously that is the way YOUR mind works... but not everyone wants to blame someone else.

Of course I don't know that for sure, but neither do you.

Resorting to name calling after reading one post doesn't reflect on your intelligence very well either... Just FYI
