Disgusting and sad. But this goes on in cemetaries all across the nation. People steal flowers, grave blankets and other items from graves and put them on other ones. Some people have no sense of shame.

With the way the country is going ,( down hill,) people are getting desperate, they are loosing everything, with no jobs to help, they turn to stealing, nothing is sacred anymore.

It truly is horrible the lack of respect. Unfortunately, I guess the stealing of vases has become all too popular. When we went to visit my moms grave for Mothers Day, at Auburn Cemetary in Illinois, as we have done since she passed on February 1977, the vase had been stolen from her grave site. It was then that we realized there were several vases missing. Seems this is another one of those horrible crimes that doesn't discriminate ... it even crosses state lines!

Whomever is paying the low-life thieves for the "scrap metal" has to know they're cemetery vases, so they're just as guilty as the thieves. Desecration of a grave is against the law, although it's not enforced. And, desecration of a Veteran's grave is un-American. Nobody can be that desperate even in these tough times; they're obviously hoodlums looking for a fast buck at the expense of our dearly departed. It's pretty bad when police officers have to patrol our sacred burial grounds to keep them safe from scavengers.

I say hang the bastards from the highest tree when they catch them. No One deserves it more than these people who destroy Veterans graves.
